Description

Cox Communications is looking for skilled network security talent to help integrate and implement designs by evaluating business strategies and requirements, researching network and security standards, and identifying integration issues.  Responsibilities will also include identifying gaps in monitoring and automation, and providing recommendations.  The individual will be able to analyze design requirements to identify and mitigate risk with integration into production networks.

Candidate should have a strong background with network security technologies from major providers such as Palo Alto Networks, Juniper, and Cisco.  The ideal candidate will:
Understand security and networking challenges in virtual environments
Possess sound knowledge of IT security best practice, common attack types, and detection/prevention methods
Possess demonstrable scripting skills in one or more languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, PHP, Unix Shell, PowerShell).
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Collaborate with Application Development, Engineering and other Infrastructure groups to integrate new network security designs into a production network
Create technically detailed “MOP” (Method of Procedure) for service integration and implementation
Analyze network security policy change requests to determine what type of service is requested, if it is compliant, and where implementation should occur.
Provide network performance guidance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
Ensure network security infrastructure and applications are maintained and patched 
Analyze existing automation scripts and tools for any missing efficiencies or gaps. 
Support internal and external teams in relation to information security initiatives
Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance using structured and repeatable methodology
Identify emerging security solutions and in coordination with Security Engineering, evaluate products
Appropriately respond to any incidents and ensure containment based on severity level
Recommend use cases that address specific organizational needs and / or regulatory requirements
Prepare and present dashboards for tiered support organization including but not limited to, incident trending, malicious activity, blacklisted IP's, virus activity and malicious sources

Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum:
3-5 years of experience in networking and related field (i.e. Security Administration, Information Security, etc.) plus relevant certifications from Palo Alto, Juniper or Cisco
- OR –
5-7 years of direct, hands-on technical security or network administration experience
Scripting skills in one or more languages (BASH, Java, Python, Perl, C, etc.).
Strong understanding of the OSI model
Demonstrable experience of analyzing and interpreting system, security, and application logs to diagnose faults and spot abnormal behaviors
Strong foundation in dynamic routing protocols
Experience in systems monitoring of large networks
Experience working with managers and customers, receiving requirements and converting them into actions

Preferred: 
Experience with hardware security module (HSM) platforms such as Gemalto's SafeNet
Experience with virtual infrastructures (VMWare, KVM, etc.)
Experience with Software-Defined Network technologies and tools (OpenFlow, Contrail, VMware NSX, OpenStack, Nuage, etc.)
Experience with using Cloud platforms and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
One or more network or security related certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, CFI, CNSE, JNCIS, JNCIE, CCNA, CCIE, etc.)
