Description

The cloud security engineer is responsible for developing capabilities, services, and platforms that are leveraged to reduce the overall risk to cloud and hybrid environments, that meet or exceed security control frameworks, and that deliver risk transparency across a dynamic business landscape.
Development
  • Experience building sophisticated and highly automated infrastructure in a real-world production environment.
  • Proven experience building security reference architecture for all-in cloud deployments and hybrid scenarios.
  • Significant technical expertise in Cloud Computing technologies, scripting languages (Python, Java, Node.js, PowerShell, .NET, etc), encryption tooling and best practices, automation, and integration of 3rd party monitoring and testing tools into the development pipeline.
  • Implementation experience with enterprise security solutions such as WAF, IDS/IPS, Anti-DDOS, DLP, and SIEM (needs to be more Cloud specific).
  • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment.
Information Security
  • Familiarity with compliance & security standards and frameworks across the enterprise IT landscape, and a deep understanding of enterprise risk management methods and techniques to drive successful outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of common security threats exploiting known vulnerabilities in infrastructure and application code, with proven experience automating proactive and reactive mitigation capabilities
  • Researches, designs, configures and deploys cloud-native security solutions to protect from current and future threats
  • Develops common threat models, playbooks and runbooks, develops forensic patterns and capabilities to mitigate known and potential threats
  • Performs reviews of security solutions deployed in the cloud, on-premises and in hybrid environments to identify potential gaps in coverage.
  • Reviews infrastructure, critical system access, and configuration changes for possible security risks.
  • Experience automating controls with Virtual Private Clouds, Terraform, CloudFormation templates, Amazon Machine Images (AMI), and other cloud-specific constructs.
  • Advises on security concerns and provides options and solutions to resolve these concerns.
Security Administration
  • Proposes and helps review security plans and policies to improve the security environment.
  • Assists in implementing security best practices for enterprise cloud adoption.
  • Implements, manages and audits cloud-based resources from a security perspective to maintain persistent availability and uptime.
  • Researches and implements new technologies to improve and grow the Cloud security infrastructure (e.g. applications, systems, outsources services).
  • Plans and monitors capacity of all Cloud security devices to keep ahead of future growth, reporting capacity needs and works to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Works towards providing a fully redundant high availability Cloud security infrastructure at all times.
  • Maintains operational guidelines, diagrams and documentation for Cloud security and infrastructure.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science degree or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • Working experience with information security
  • Significant technical expertise in Cloud Computing technologies and scripting languages
  • Working experience deploying and maintaining security solutions in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • A thorough understanding of the continuous integration / continuous (CI/CD) delivery model of DevOps.
  • Working experience with SIEM integrations
  • Working experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) & Intrusion Protection Systems (IPS)
  • Working experience with security groups and firewall configuration and monitoring
  • Working experience with endpoint protection and data loss prevention solutions

Preferred

  • CISSP, CSSP, or CISM certification(s)
  • Hands-on technical expertise in cloud-based automation, integration, and deployment (DevOps).
  • Strong scripting skills, i.e., Powershell, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.
  • Network / System Administration experience / background
