Unit Description

Sodexo has a new opening for a Senior Accounting Assistant in the Entity Accounting & Licensing department at our Buffalo Financial d Services Center.



  • Calculate, prepare and file license/permit applications with jurisdictions
  • Review the contents of prepared license/permit registrations and W9 documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Input data into the Licensing/Permit Access database
  • Utilize the Licensing/Permit Access database to answer queries and resolve issues
  • Correspond directly with the Corporate Secretary’s office to maintain entity and required officer information
  • Partner with Tax and other corporate departments to resolve issues that impact the filing of licenses and permits
  • Create and utilize licensing/permit reports to aid the units in maintaining timely renewals and updates
  • Provide assistance to unit managers, jurisdictions and auditors
  • Support and assist with the receipt and dissemination of license/permit applications received from units and jurisdictions
  • Partner with the Accounts Payable and Mailing departments to ensure accurate and timely processing and mailing of license/permit payments
  • Assist with projects as necessary.


Minimum Education/Experience Required/Preferred:

  • One (1) year Accounting or Business courses preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ general accounting/bookkeeping experience required


Minimum Training/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Highly organized with effective time management skills
  • Knowledge of license/permit process preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access and SAP
  • Able to recognize and resolve problems
  • Able to use calculator, copier and scanner
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to work in a team environment

Position Summary

Performs various clerical/accounting functions in support of the company's or department's financial tracking, processing and reporting requirements. May involve general accounts payable/receivable or related financial areas. Develops alternative solutions where guidelines are not available; interprets policies and procedures when necessary. Acts as a resource to less experienced accounting staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
