Prudential’s Alternative Assets Group is a unit of the Global Chief Investment Officer organization, which conducts asset and liability management and portfolio construction for all of Prudential’s domestic and international business operations.  The Alternative Assets Group is responsible for managing over $9 billion in assets, comprised of private equity and hedge funds, as well as real estate and other investments in real assets.

The Alternative Assets Group is seeking an experienced investment professional with a specific focus on quantitative and risk analysis to support the team’s effort in managing underlying portfolio risk.  The alternative investment portfolios span across asset classes, regions, and include complex strategies.  The position reports to the Alternative Assets Group Risk Manager.  The candidate will be expected to:
Create, establish and maintain a risk framework to analyze Prudential’s alternative investments portfolios investing across hedge funds, private equity, and real estate.
Develop and enhance analytical tools to help assess alternative investment portfolios
Identify and evaluate risks, as well as run stress tests, across various asset classes, strategies, portfolios and managers
Assist in developing a methodology for stress testing the private equity and real estate portfolios.
Creating and running optimization models to serve as a guide to portfolio managers in allocation decisions
Assist in creating and generating periodic risk reports for senior management and portfolio stakeholders.
Work on automation of systems and processes

Minimum of 1 year of prior financial markets experience; asset management experience preferred
Between 1-3 years of working in a risk management and/or analytical role at an asset manager; alternative investments industry experience a plus
Strong quantitative/statistical knowledge with an ability to work on systems and databases (SQL, Access)
Knowledge of Bloomberg and Microsoft Office, advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VBA, Macros)
Minimum of 1 year of programming experience using R or Matlab
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
