This position is located in Horsham, PA. Telecommuting will be considered for internal applicants only.

 

As a Senior Applications Developer / .Net Developer in the Medicare Benefit Operations Strategy team, you will be responsible for end-to-end business process activities - creating, controlling, and improving critical projects to support the Operations team. You'll have the opportunity to be a leader and develop solutions using many technologies to support and compile key information for internal and external clients.

 

This role is not just a back office developer position, and requires a high level of comfort working directly with business stakeholders to create innovative solutions to their business problems. Success in this role will require the ability to juggle multiple development requests in various stages of the life cycle development process, and work closely with highly skilled teammates.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team subject matter expert for all data sources used in analysis, reporting, and development
  • Work with Lead Developer and IT teams to maintain a small cloud based server environment for SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server, and an application server
  • Serves as a project manager over small to medium application development projects
  • Facilitates project management meetings.  Identifies required allocation of staff resources
  • Defines project goals and objectives, identifying task and resource dependencies and/or constraints
  • Prepares and presents project status reports.  Identifies and finds solutions to technical, or resource problems
  • Provide in depth analysis to identify root causes and to drive remediation of underlying issues
  • Works directly with the business community to gather business requirements, develop functional and technical specifications, and document business use case scenarios
  • Design and develop SSIS/SSRS for the ETL of data from multiple sources
  • When necessary, prototype ad-hoc solutions using SQL and Excel
  • Communicate technical information clearly and articulately across multiple levels of the organization
  • Take ownership of issues and follow through on all responsibilities
  • Work closely with stakeholders on process improvements, ensuring long-term sustainability of projects the team supports
  • Document and keep all SOPs up to date
  • Serves as a resource to others
  • Demonstrates commitment to UnitedHealth Care's culture, policies, standards, and ethics

Required Qualifications:

  • Computer Science or related technology based Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of strong SQL experience
  • 2+ years using .NET related technologies
  • 2+ years of C# experience
  • 2+ years of exposure to SSIS/SSRS
  • 3+ years of effective verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate technical terms in business language and communicate across levels of the organization
  • 3+ years of experience with SDLC methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASP.NET and Web Services experience
  • Health care industry experience
  • Passion for learning and working with new technologies
