Senior Associate Scientist, AAV In Vivo Translational Sciences

Job Details

The Gene Therapy Translational Sciences group located in Cambridge, MA is part of Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) with a focus on gene therapy specific platform technologies towards the delivery of IND-approved vectors for testing in clinical trials. This Scientist will be part of an interdisciplinary team and contribute to preclinical data required to advance Pfizer's gene therapy-based portfolio.


+ Performing in vivo assays related to delivering AAV gene therapy vectors.

+ Execute experiments and deliver high-value data reports to Gene Therapy projects in the RDRU pipeline.

+ Support preclinical tissue distribution, histology and biochemical experiments focused on understanding cellular tropism of existing and new gene therapy vectors.

+ Partner with RDRU biology group and other Pfizer teams of integrated drug discovery and development, especially pharmacokinetics and drug disposition, to develop translational preclinical packages for gene therapy clinical candidates.

+ Support aspects of external collaborations and contracted projects.


+ BS in the life sciences with 2-4 years of academic or industry research experience.

+ Experience in performing and analyzing in vivo biology experiments.

+ Experience in tissue dissection, processing, immunohistochemistry and high resolution imaging required.

+ Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.


+ Scientific background and training in human and rodent anatomy (e.g. CNS), stereotactic surgery and biochemistry techniques preferred

+ vidence of scientific accomplishments in the form of publications and presentations preferred.
