Within Pfizer's Internal Medicine Research Unit, the Mass Spectrometry lab is seeking a candidate who will apply liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry-based metabolomics towards finding cures for cardiovascular disease, metabolic diseases, and diseases of neurodegeneration. The candidate will apply both full-scan (Orbitrap) and targeted (triple quadrupole) mass spectrometry to determine concentrations and metabolic fluxes from biological samples. As needed, the candidate would also troubleshoot and maintain U-HPLC and MS instrumentation. Key responsibilities include biological sample preparation, LC-MS data acquisition, data analysis, interpretation and communication of results to a multidisciplinary project team.


+ Apply U-HPLC/full-scan (Orbitrap) and targeted (triple quadrupole) MS methods to acquire metabolomics data with proper quality controls and calibration curves. Process data to calculate concentrations and assess rates when stable isotope tracer strategies are employed.

+ Aid in the development, optimization and validation of new LC/MS methods

+ Perform metabolite extractions on biological samples including cells and tissue samples

+ Apply custom and vendor-developed software for data analysis, visualization and interpretation

+ Maintain and troubleshoot U-HPLC, full-scan and QQQ mass spectrometers Communicate results effectively to a cross-functional team


+ B.S. with 2-4 years Metabolomics experience or M.S. with 0-2 years Metabolomics experience

+ Successful completion of Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry courses

+ Previous experience applying liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry

+ Excellent written an oral communication skills
