Description Role Summary The incumbent candidate will be responsible for developing, evaluating and characterizing bioconjugates (protein conjugates, polymer conjugates, targeted nanomedicines) and other novel drug delivery formulations/devices for the delivery of diverse biotherapeutic modalities including (but not limited to) protein candidate molecules, vaccines, gene medicine and cell-based therapies, and other targeted delivery strategies. This individual functions cooperatively as a bioconjugation chemist and drug delivery scientist and is responsible for working in a team-based environment to meet project deadlines. The incumbent displays strong technical knowledge in various aspects of analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and protein chemistry, with a drive to learn new techniques while working at the laboratory bench. Incumbent must have the scientific commitment and strong desire to make impactful scientific and technical contributions within the Pharmaceutical Research & Development team and the respective project teams.

Role Responsibilities

+ Hands-on experimentation towards the preparation of innovative drug delivery solutions including, but not limited to, bioconjugates composed of proteins, peptides, biopolymers and other biomolecules

+ Develop purification methods for the prepared samples and develop analytical methods to characterize the same and product-related variants and impurities. Comfortable with troubleshooting process, formulation and analytical challenges.

+ Utilize chromatographic, biophysical and other analytical methods for characterization in order to fully understand quality attributes for early research studies

+ Manage laboratory, including procurement of proteins and reagents, organizing and maintaining inventories, and monitoring stability samples

+ Data management, including notebook keeping, processing of data, compiling figures for presentations and writing reports

+ Present scientific results to team members and to larger diverse audiences

**Basic Qualifications**

+ MS with 0-2 year(s) relevant academic or pharmaceutical laboratory experience or BS/BA with 2-4 years relevant laboratory experience

+ Strong working knowledge in chemical synthetic reactions and reagents is essential

+ Hands on experience with protein, peptide and/or oligonucleotide chemistries is essential

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Expertise in protein and peptide analytical and purification techniques such as Reverse Phase HPLC/UPLC, SEC, Ion-Exchange, HIC, Affinity chromatography, AFFF-MALS, BIAcore, SDS-PAGE, Capillary Electrophoresis, ELISA, LC-MS and/or other methods

+ Experience with conjugation chemistry, linkers and techniques is highly recommended

+ Some experience with polymers/biopolymers (PLA/PLGA, PEG, oligosaccharides, fatty acids, etc.) or with drug delivery technologies (nanoparticles, ADCs, hydrogels, liposomes, etc) is a plus

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment is essential
