Job Details


Candidate will be responsible for providing microbiology, molecular biology, and exploratory assay support for preclinical vaccine programs targeting microbial pathogens. Goal will be to construct tools for expression of native and recombinant antigens and to develop molecular assays for the detection of associated immune responses, as well as the presence of pathogens in clinical samples. Candidate must be an excellent communicator/collaborator, and be capable of adapting quickly to new assignments in a discovery-based research setting.


1. Execute experiments to further project goals. Contribute original ideas and participate in project planning activities.

2. Should be capable of multitasking priorities and demonstrating problem solving skills in the planning and execution of objectives.

3. Interpret and summarize experimental data. Participate in the evaluation of new expression and molecular biology technologies.

4. Present experimental results at group meetings, project meetings, and department meetings, as required. Participate in composition of research reports.

5. Maintain laboratory notebook in a detailed and descriptive manner. Keep current in entries into the strains and vector databases.


B.S. degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline with 3+ years relevant research experience, or M.S. degree with 1-3 years relevant experience.

Candidate should be proficient in general microbiology and molecular biology techniques. Hands-on experience with the isolation of nucleic acids, construction/cloning of plasmid vectors, PCR, and nucleotide sequencing is strongly preferred. Experience with microplate-based Luminex or ELISA immunogenicity assays is essential.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required. Familiarity with desktop bioinformatics analysis tools (e.g. VectorNTI or DNASTAR) is preferred.

The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
