"What You'll Do
You'll support Cisco's State, Local and Education Sales operation, as an integral part of the U.S. Public Sector Legal Team. You will also provide primary support involves strategic advice and collaboration as a business partner to SLED Sales Executives, RFP terms and conditions review; issue spotting in a variety of situations; reviewing, drafting, negotiating contracts (direct and partner-based), and advising business clients. Agreement types include: direct sale, RFP/RFIs, resale, nondisclosure, evaluation, donation, strategic MOU's.

This position will act as a trusted advisor on legal topics including cloud, software, and security sales within State and Local Procurement Regulations and other key issues to support business strategies and customer/partner relationships. Providing advice and contract interpretation to Cisco senior management on the provisions of specific agreements as well as business-impacting legal issues is another duty of this position. 

You will have the ability to negotiate with Cisco customers and partners, to drive Cisco business and meet customer and partner business objectives and to collaborate with other Cisco legal resources to maximize our collective ability to provide strategic and coordinated support to the many entities engaged with State and Local Government customers.  Being able to assure conformity and consistency in application of Cisco legal and business policies and practices and support the training requirements of client organizations by providing presentations on key legal issues that impact the business are also critical to this role.

The minimum requirements for this role are:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience with State, Local and Education Government business, commercial contracts law. Also helpful is experience with U.S. Federal procurement law, Federal Acquisition Regulations. 
* J.D. - Juris Doctorate
* Experienced and knowledgeable in ethics and compliance matters, such as gifts/hospitality rules and lobbying rules. 
Direct experience negotiating complex business transactions in a high-tech environment.
* Experience identifying and reviewing specific regulations for situational applicability

The desired skills we are looking for are:
* Practical experience in RFP review, issue spotting and responses; drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documents associated with doing business in the State /Local and Education market including teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements, memoranda of understanding, product sales and services contracts (direct and reseller).
* Experience with legal analysis for sales to Education customers including E-Rate regulations
* Experience applying substantive knowledge to real time business situations to provide both strategic and tactical advice and risk assessments to State and Local business team and legal colleagues.
* Experience supporting an in-house sales organization is a plus.
* Ability to read and understand complex contract provisions.
* Enthusiasm and energy, combined with an entrepreneurial instinct.
* Great people skills, and a desire to partner with clients and customers.
