What You'll Do

You will operate in a dual role. In one aspect of your role, you will act as a general counsel-like manner for the Client Directors, Client Executives, Operations Directors and Service Sales Directors of a fixed portfolio of named customer accounts. You will support all aspects of the legal sales relationship between Cisco and the GES customers, and potentially several channel partners. In addition, your role will be to provide overlay legal support to the GES Legal team with a heavy focus on software licensing and XaaS transactions across a large portfolio of GES accounts.

Cisco’s Global Enterprise Segment (GES) is comprised of more than 500 enterprise accounts representing the combination of GES Theatre and US Enterprise theatres.

Who You Are

You are articulate and demonstrate superior communication, negotiation, people and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable and confident in dealing directly with all levels of management, and with customers. You will also be able to work independently but reciprocally with a high energy, talented and fun team of professionals.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Structuring, drafting and negotiating contracts of major impact for Cisco with GES customers and partners. Agreements may include meaningful and innovating deals like Master Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements and XaaS Agreements.
  • Working cross-functionally to support and lead the legal relationship with your GES customers.
  • Setting or influencing strategic policies and initiatives, ensuring consistency and alignment with business objectives.
  • Establishing “trusted advisor” relationships with the sales leadership teams. Participating as a member of the extended sales leadership team by attending staff calls, providing input on business and contracting strategies, being a first point of contact on new opportunities and all legal issues while providing ongoing business advice and counsel.
  • Counseling clients on key issues affecting business, growth and go-to-market strategies, regulatory issues, open source requirements and protection of intellectual property rights.
  • Driving initiatives to accelerate Cisco’s business.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Direct experience negotiating complex business and licensing transactions.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law or in contract management/negotiation role with strong sales contract, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • No less than 4 years doing SaaS and/or XaaS transactions. Outsourcing experience is a major plus, but not required.
  • Strong communications and “soft” skills, including presenting complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Understanding of, and relevant experience in, intellectual property law, commercial contracts and business law.
  • Understand complex business models and complex contract schemes.
  • Creativity and analytical skills.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to provide leadership in framing deal strategies.
  • Track record of driving initiatives/change to benefit customers, clients and colleagues.
  • Strong leadership skills and willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters and execute dedicatedly.
  • Phenomenal teammate and work well in areas of shared responsibility and accountability.
