What You'll Do

You’ll get in on the ground floor and help build The Hatch—Cisco’s internal agency whose raison d’être is to improve the quality and consistency of the communications for one of the world’s top 20 brands. To help us get there, you’ll concept and execute work that is creatively inspired and actually moves the needle for the company.

You’ll collaborate with art directors, designers, and producers to own the conceptual development for the projects to which you’re assigned. Those projects will range from large, brand-centered campaigns to T-shirts for our internal store. Seriously, you’ll get your hands on pretty much everything—Web sites, video scripts, digital campaigns, event graphics, and Keynote presentations.

Once the concepts are approved, you’ll be responsible for developing all copy needed to bring those ideas to life.

You’ll be able to pressure-test strategies, not just out of a healthy sense of self-preservation, but to actually lead to more focused and inspired work.

You’ll also work with external agencies to help guide them to work that’s on brand and on brief.

Who You'll Work With

You will report directly to our Global Executive Creative Directors who—along with other senior members of the group—have worked in some of the world’s largest agencies and for some of its most famous brands. Yet for all that experience, you’ll notice a refreshing lack of ego.

Everyone here wants to make the agency Cisco’s go-to group for insight, inspiration, and creative magic, and believes we’ll get there by pulling people with us, rather than pushing them.

Oh, and we believe that a life outside work isn’t just nice, it’s essential.

Who You Are

  • You have at least 5 years of experience creating ideas for some of the world’s most recognizable brands—either at a blue-chip agency or client-side for the brand itself.
  • While you’ll be a writer by trade, you’ll have worked in and around ideas long enough to understand it ain’t just the words that make an idea sing—it’s the way words, images, and software work together.
  • You’ve worked on short tweets, two-minute videos, and entire web sites—and everything in between.
  • You’re a tech person through and through.
  • You’re able to take a complicated piece of technology or software (and an often even more complicated brief) and make it sound simple, intelligent, and inspiring.
  • You understand tone and voice and story and rhythm and all those writerly things other people think they get just because they write like 50 emails every day.
  • You have an entrepreneurial streak that’s a mile wide.
