Description

The Senior Data Analyst will write SAS programs to identify medical claims that are suspect for fraud and will provide subject matter expertise for analytic development. Retrieving data and conducting data driven analysis utilizing various analytical tools, software, and techniques are a part of daily responsibilities. This person will perform data mining and analysis to develop and improve fraud strategies, analyze false positive trends, and measure and control existing strategies. They will build adequate controls and processes to provide quality assurance for all analytics. They will manage projects, and should possess skills to perform data mining, data modeling, and data analysis. They will work closely with the various stakeholders including fraud operations, claims, fraud policy, technology, other risk teams, and business owners and will also be involved with implementation of new fraud detection systems and strategies, in addition to working with existing systems.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage various analytics including models, algorithms, outlier analysis, and reports to detect fraud, waste, and abuse of healthcare claims

  • Retrieve data and conduct data-driven analytics utilizing various analytical tools, software, and techniques

  • Manage modeling projects including the management of model design, data preparation, model development, documentation, implementation, monitoring, and refinement

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify suspicious activity, industry risks, or critical issues concerning the trends associated with healthcare fraud

  • Manage relationships with technology partners to ensure the systems supporting the program are operating effectively and efficiently

  • Maintain a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools, and techniques

  • Contribute to the advancement of the team’s processes, efficiencies, and best practices

  • Coach and mentor team members, and recognize and develop talents

  • Assist in developing new policies, procedures, and training pertaining to data analysis and analytic development

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive implementation of changes to analytics / processes

  • Develop presentations to explain the value of the analytics to a non-statistical audience

  • Present analyses, findings, and recommendations to a broader audience including senior leaders
