What You'll Do

As an Senior Data Scientist, you will lead the development of value-add analytical models and decision tools through the problem framing, data acquisition, data preparation, modeling and model evaluation phases for a large portfolio of corporate-level data-driven initiatives.  You will be the technical leader of a  cross functional team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Productionalization Specialists that produce  real-world decision tools, which have a measurable impact on Cisco's business outcomes--both today and on the horizon. 

You will enable the full life-cycle of Analytics: Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Preparation, Modeling and Testing with a focus on Deployment & Model Maintenance.

Who You'll Work With

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will develop cutting edge analytics-driven decision tools with the help of a dynamic, cross-functional team of professionals including -  peer Data Scientists, Data Engineers, IT leaders, a Data Science Professor In Residence and Six Sigma Master Black Belts from a Continuous Improvement Center of Excellence (CoE). 

You will work with your teammates in the Enterprise Data Science Office to accomplish  strategic  objectives through the application of advanced analytics. In addition you will interact frequently with senior leaders across various Cisco organizations, both within Operations and beyond.

Who You Are

You thrive in an environment that requires collaborating closely with peers as well as cross functional teams. You possess senior level presentation and communications skills, and are comfortable working closely with senior or executive leaders. Your previous experience working with Business/Operations & IT counterparts in an agile environment to deliver fully productionalized analytical tools will be key to help you successfully transition into this technical leader role.  

At a minimum, we require:

• BA/BS Degree plus 5-8 years relevant experience 

• You have extensive experience and demonstrated success in designing and deploying analytical models at scale (Data Manipulation, Machine Learning/Predictive Models, Model evaluation)

• You have experience developing analytical models utilizing the CRISP-DM framework

• You have expert level knowledge of either the R or Python programming languages and relevant advanced analytics libraries and/or packages (i.e. dplyr, randomForest, e1071 or pandas, numpy, scipy)

• You have worked with a variety of Database systems including relational, NoSQL, and big data frameworks (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo, HBase, Hive, Impala)

• Proficient in code version control systems (preferably Git)

• Deep experience with at least two of the following techniques: 

     o Regression (linear, logistic, MARS, LOESS etc..)

     o Bayesian Classification 

     o Decision Trees (Random Forest, Gradient Boosted etc.)

     o Clustering (k-means, Hierarchical etc..)

     o Neural Networks

     o Text Analytics (Sentiment Analysis, Topic Modeling etc..)



*In addition to the above, a well qualified candidate would have a background in continuous development/improvement and a deep portfolio of example projects
