Description

The role of the Compensation Department of Cox Enterprises, Inc. is to oversee compensation across the enterprise to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.  The corporate team is responsible for executive compensation across the enterprise, including officer pay, long-term incentives, and corporate level annual incentive plans.  It also designs and administers all corporate perquisite programs as well as broad-based compensation at the parent company.

This position leads a team of seven professionals and has primary accountability for the departmental objectives.  It reports to the Vice President, Benefits, Compensation and HR Technology Services for Cox Enterprises and will be a key liaison for multiple divisions.

Responsibilities:

This role will have accountability for the following:

Design & Administration

·Design and administer long-term incentive plans for Cox Enterprises and its divisions

·Partner with Cox divisions to design annual incentives for key businesses

·Partner with the divisions on all officer transactions; e.g., new hires, transfers, promotions, separations

·Oversee the perquisite program and/or the corporate recognition program

·Interact with payroll, finance, accounting, and legal departments

·Lead communications efforts around compensation programs in partnership with Cox’s Communications team

·Develop pitch and sell ideas to senior Cox leaders that benefit the organization

Team Leadership

  • Manage daily activities of the compensation department
  • Lead a team of several analysts and/or managers
  • Create performance and development plans for all direct reports and oversee staff development
Drive collaboration across the team and divisional compensation partners
Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has at 7-10 years compensation experience, including consulting and internal roles
  • Executive compensation background preferred; incentive design in particular
  • Clear executive presence
  • History of effective people management
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and establish relationships
  • Good financial acumen; analytical and creative problem solving skills; strong attention to detail
  • Trustworthy; maintains confidentiality
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities under tight deadlines
  • CEP and/or CCP designation a plus
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, and/or Kenexa’s CompAnalyst a plus
