Description:

The Leader of Project Management Office will report directly to the VP of IT Strategy, Planning & Governance and has accountability for governing the delivery of IT investment initiatives through a standard project management framework consisting of Program Management Office processes, common templates, controls & assurance activities as well as supporting project management tools and capabilities to meet the objectives of the business. This individual will be responsible for developing the organization's competency and leading 3 teams within the IT PMO:

  1. Methods & Tools - development of tools, methods, and practices to assure delivery of high quality solutions that meet or exceed business objectives
  2. PMO Process Optimization - Develop and improve PMO processes, including Portfolio Management processes, stage gates and governance linkage to develop & deploy standard PMO 'ways of working' to the global IT organization
  3. PMO Process Assurance - training, coaching and review services to support project delivery organizations and to ensure required controls adherence and standards/quality assurance across project delivery organizations


In addition to the essential functions listed above, this individual will participate in the IT strategic planning process and support the portfolio managers by establishing consistent processes and framework to manage the global and sector portfolios as well as provide assistance to other members of the IT organization, or perform other duties as assigned by the leader of IT Strategy, Planning & Governance.

Key activities of the role include:

  • Drive establishment and compliance of project management guidelines and practices to ensure effective, efficient, high quality delivery that consistently meets or exceeds the expectations of the business
  • Lead the definition and development of IT delivery processes, policies, standards and practices, and manage centralized assets to support that capability (e.g., tools)
  • Provide thought leadership to program and project delivery and lead continuous improvement program in IT delivery
  • Manage the development and support of project/program management tools and reporting to support the project management and leadership communities


Organizational Structure: This role is part of the overall Strategy, Planning & Governance organization which focuses on the following areas:

  • Program and Project Management
  • Portfolio and Demand Management
  • Development of tools, methods, and practices to assure delivery of high quality solutions that meet or exceed business objectives


Team structure:

  • This role reports to the Vice President of IT Strategy, Planning & Governance
  • This role will manage a global team of 25-30 resources


Job requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience
  • 10+ years related PMO leadership, preferably defining and launching IT PMO function within a large organization with significant IT investments
  • Professional Certifications (PMI, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma)
  • In-depth knowledge of technology concepts and strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of business and systems operations

  • Demonstrated success in communicating with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing requirements and interests, keep team focused on top priorities, and find ways to achieve win-win or obtain acceptance/consensus for best compromise

Interaction:

  • Collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers and Sector Embeds to ensure a high level of project quality
  • Communicate with all relevant stakeholders as required providing guidance on portfolio and product strategy based on business direction and technical outlook
  • Communicate with all Program/Project stakeholders as required
