Description ROLE SUMMARY:

Lead Engineering team, execute site capital/expense projects, and manage site portfolio to ensure site objectives are met. Accountable for Site capital and expense budget, scope delivery, schedule adherence and communication.

Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct all phases of the engineering, construction, qualification work of small thru major Engineering or Business system projects.

Accountable for support of internal engineering resources, identify/acquiring/maintaining contracted engineering, construction, and validation resources, and managing the site project portfolio and commensurate project schedules/cash flows/budgets/quality/communication in accordance with the Site Master Technical Plan, safety, and quality objectives.

This position is a key role in ensuring we meet our business objectives and site goals including safety, quality and compliance, cost, and supply reliability.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

**Project / Portfolio Execution**

Responsible for project planning, design, construction and qualification. Provide input and recommendations to the organization regarding the development of new designs, methods, or processes. Assist in evaluation of code-related issues, as applicable; including building, fire, electrical, environmental, etc. Take into account financial and business considerations, draw conclusions and recommend options for projects. Develop a broad range of cost estimates from conceptual thru detailed design. Plan and conduct work requiring analysis of data, procedures, design, and qualification requirements. The majority of assigned projects will have budgets less than $500,000. Larger projects will have budgets up to $4-$5MM.



Lead cross functional team from all departments (Quality, EH&S, Manufacturing, Research and Development, Supply Chain, Finance) in preparation and updates of the Site Master Technical Plan and ensure alignment with site goals/objectives. Accountable to each department for successful execution and communication. Review regularly with Director of Engineering and Site Leadership. Manage and identify cost savings; track, and report actuals to plan.



**Communication**

Track progress and report results of projects and portfolio to Site Leadership Team. Provide updates at the site-wide "Town Hall" meetings, for corporate visits, and for site metrics. Maintain Engineering visual data.



**Personnel Support**

Contractor Management - May supervise; assist in directing the work of one or more consultants, trades contractors, or technicians for the execution of an engineering project. Report progress, costs and schedule for technicians during project-specific activities.



Coaches and/or mentor less experienced technical personnel within the organization, including designers, technicians, and engineers. Receive general project direction for complex tasks from more experienced staff. Regular assignments are completed with minimal supervision. Provide training to new/current employees with respect to documentation, use of equipment and department procedures.



**Quality and Compliance**

Represent the Engineering team for internal, customer, and FDA audits. Support teams and provide leadership for resolving manufacturing problems affecting product quality, personnel safety, environmental compliance, quality compliance or equipment operability. Manage ERs and CAPAs per schedule in addition to providing mentoring support to ER and CAPA writers in the department. Identify continuous improvement opportunities for standard work practices and fully implement solutions.

Develop and manage engineering and project management standards and procedures. Maintain site/equipment drawings and specs along with other control documents for critical systems



QUALIFICATIONS:

BS Chemical Engineering



8-10 years cGMP experience



Familiar with basic chemical unit operations performed by manufacturing at an API manufacturing cGMP site (distillations, filtrations, vacuum / venting operations, drying, etc.).



Has basic knowledge of chemical processing and support equipment from perspective of operations and troubleshooting performance problems.



Advanced experience in general engineering skills and is proficient in some of the key areas related to the type of projects performed at this site.



Familiar with existing chemical and utility systems at the site.



Suggests / applies novel and innovative solutions to projects.



Gathers ideas from a variety of perspectives and sources. Suggests new ways to apply existing knowledge.



Exhibits a sense of urgency to achieve aggressive time tables.



Creates a conducive environment to achieve compressed scopes & schedules with multi-function groups.



Ability to assist in troubleshooting chemical and utility systems through knowledge of equipment operation and performance problems.



Excellent technical writing skills; can write operation SOPs for unfamiliar equipment with input from Manufacturing, Maintenance, EH&S, and Quality.
