Position Summary

We are seeking a Sr. IT Database Consultant for our Plymouth, Minnesota location responsible for providing database administration for a variety of mission-critical custom and packaged software applications. Responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring database functionality to ensure stable environments. Perform database administration and management activities in a safe, recoverable and professional manner that ensures the optimal operation of all database environments. Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new and improved guidelines to ensure compatibility and better service for end-users. Identify and initiate resolutions to user problems/concerns associated with database server equipment (hardware and software). Identify potential service level problems before they occur and notifying appropriate parties. Stay abreast of the most current release of Oracle, including compatibility issues with operating systems, third party software and utilities. Test and evaluate new products as relevant. Log support cases as necessary and effectively work with Oracle Corporation. Maintain up-to-date plans for disaster recovery and fail over capabilities. Perform capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architect. Propose solutions, identify tools, and generate procedures to ensure an efficient, consistent repeatable environment. Use and deploy RDBMS software, data management tools and utilities, data warehouse and replication tools. Maintain security according to best practices and generate security solutions that balance auditor requirements with user requirements. Participate in 24x7 on call rotation. Utilize experience with Oracle 11g and 12c Restart, RAC, ASM, CRS, Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control/Cloud Control 12c, Oracle 12c Data Guard, Oracle GoldenGate, MySQL, MySql Database Clusters (Standalone, Active Passive and HA plus DR), Monyog, Workbench Tool and Percona Xtrabackup.  Provide supervision to on-shore teams including IT Database Consultants and IT Application Architect.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 5 years of related experience. In the alternative, the Company will accept 7 years of related experience.
  • Must also have 12 months of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with each of the following technologies: 1) Oracle 11g, 12c Restart, RAC, ASM and CRS; 2) Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN); 3) Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control/Cloud Control 12c; 4) Oracle 12c Data Guard; 5) Oracle GoldenGate; and, 6) MySQL, MySql Database Clusters (Standalone, Active Passive and HA plus DR), Monyog, Workbench Tool and Percona Xtrabackup.
  • All experience may be gained concurrently and employer will accept any suitable combination of education and experience.
