Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior IT Operating System Consultant for our Boston, Massachusetts location responsible for the architecture, design, installation, decommissioning, configuration, administration, storage virtualization, provisioning, high availability disaster recovery strategies, and data migration in large scale multi-site SAN environments. Work with SAN, NAS, Backups, Tape Libraries VMWare, Windows, AIX, Solaris, Linux, VMWARE ESXi platforms to support mission critical applications in a large scale datacenters including Enterprise Secure Key Manager (ESKM).  Use storage supporting  emerging technologies including Hitachi Dynamic provisioning, Dynamic Tiering, Shadow image copy, HTSM, HUR, Externalization, Universal Volume Manager, configuration of the CCI server for the HORCM files; HP -Adaptive Optimization, CPGs, De-duplication, data encryption, remote copy groups; NetApp – CIFS,NFS, Snap mirror, snap vault, Vol copy, Vfiler , Clones, Snapshots; IBM mdisks, mdisks groups, I/O groups, vdisks. Configution of backup policies, robots, tape drives storage units and volume pools. Responsible for capacity planning, optimization, performance modeling, monitoring, bottleneck analysis, tuning, and metrics collection on multi operating systems.  Responsible for Automation and reduction of manual efforts through scripting /tools including  Perl or shell, python, API ,SQL scripts and VMware vRealize Operations Manager to automate key processes and improve IT efficiency.  Responsible for process implementations, virtualization technologies, data center migrations, technology refresh cycles, hardware and software upgrades, data replication and disaster recovery setup and must support ongoing disaster recovery exercises and maintenance, aligning business goals with new technology solutions to drive process improvements. Responsible for storage provisioning tasks beginning with end user requests, through the creation of Pools, LUNs, mapping, masking, zoning, and ensuring storage availability at the operating system. Provide daily support and work with server, network, storage, and database, application analysts in escalated high priority incidents, high critical change requests and problem analysis. Experience with multiple operating systems including Windows, VMware, AIX, Solaris, and Linux. Provisioning, troubleshooting, and administering Hitachi, NetApp, HP, IBM, EMC storage hardware including HDS USPV,VSP ,G600, G800, G1000, G1500, Netapp 7-Mode, cluster mode systems, NetApp E Series, HP 3PAR, IBM SVC, EMC Isilion and EMC XtremeIO. Using storage supporting tools including Hitachi Command suite, Tuning Analyzer, Event Monitor, Storage Navigator, Tuning Manager Custom Library, Hitachi Data Center Analytics, Hitachi Track Monitor; HP- Enterprise Secure Key Manager (ESKM), IBM SAN Volume Controller Console, HP Storage Serv Management Console, HP Performance Manager, NetApp Operations Manager, NetApp SANtricity, Microsoft Windows MPIO, NetApp DSM, Hitachi HDLM, EMC Power Path, IBM MPIO and VERITAS Volume Manager. Use expertise in the Data center migrations. Design, develop and implement the migration plans for the data center migration activities as well as interfacing with customers, project managers and vendors to identify business problems and help create solutions that achieve target business results. Responsible for configure, troubleshoot the zoning, zoning issues, port errors, ISL, ICL tunnels ,analyze switch / port performance/diagnostics on the Brocade & Cisco director switch models using the (DCFM) Data Center Brocade Fabric Manager and the command line interface, Cisco Fabric Manager & Device Manager and CLI. Complete code and microcode upgrades. Use Knowledge on IP networking including routing and firewall rules. Handling Data Center Operations and remote system administration with Business & Mission critical applications. Ensure adherence to established technology standards and consult with managers and senior leadership on technology solutions. Communication skills to work with multiple vendors and other infrastructure teams on firmware /hardware upgrades, plan and design high revenue based projects aligning business goals with new technology solutions to drive process improvements and competitive advantage and bottom-line gains. Create detailed documentation on troubleshooting, processes and workflows, configuration changes. Use Agile sprint methodology for problem identification, troubleshoot, break fixes, root cause analysis, proposing alternative solutions. Participate in rotating 24x7x365 on call duties as well as off-hour planned activities.  This is an individual contributor position.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 4 years related experience.
