The Senior Iteration Manager works closely with development teams, release management and business partners to insure the iteration and release process runs smoothly. The role is responsible for organizing story cards and ensuring effective workflow management. The IM works with product teams to manage product backlog, prioritize cards prior to the iteration, and communicate status across teams during the iteration. Superior communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work across the organization, excellent analytical and organization skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to participate in a team environment are keys to this position. The Sr. Iteration Manager exhibits leadership amongst peers and within the organization.

The Senior Iteration Manager is focused on fostering an environment that leads to continuous improvement on the team. The Sr. Iteration Manager helps the team uncover areas in the work process that can be improved. The Sr. Iteration Manager also provides timely coaching during the software development process. 

This role requires a thorough understanding of business functions and processes, broad knowledge of leading technologies, an in-depth understanding of the organization’s technology portfolio. The successful candidate we seek must have a demonstrable track record of achieving success in a dynamic, fast-paced start up environment. 


Technology Methdologies We Use: Agile, Scrum, XP, Mingle, 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate IPMs, Retrospectives and Daily Standups
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture
  • Work directly with Business and IT management to prioritize cards for each iteration and release
  • Track development velocity and work with QA and Demand Management to manage iteration capacity
  • Closely track iteration progress across teams and monitor status for business partners resolve blocking issues as necessary
  • Manage all release activities within the team
  • Coordination of activities with Release Management to ensure successful delivery of iterations and deployments
  • Coordinate dependencies between teams with other Iteration Managers
  • Identify and help remove roadblocks for the entire team that occur during iterations
  • Ensure development team is working happily, productively and effectively towards iteration goals
  • Facilitate empowerment and self-organization of the agile team
  • Represent the Release Manager or the IM team when needed
  • Lead special projects outside day-to-day responsibilities
  • Mentor junior team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering; or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years with Scrum Master, Iteration Manager or Agile Project Management experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in and servant-leading teams that leverage Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and other Agile practices
  • Solid understanding of Agile value and principles. Experience with various Agile practices and techniques
  • A detail oriented disposition and clear concise communication skills are a must
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and lead change
What We Look For:
  • 7+ years of experience with one or more Agile development methodologies (i.e. Scrum, XP, etc.)
  • Experience with high volume web applications 
  • Experience with relevant business software e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Agile project management tools like Mingle, etc.
  • Experience with applying Lean thinking in knowledge work environments
