What You'll Do

Cisco is looking for a government affairs professional to join a global team for a position based at our Washington, DC office as Senior Manager for Congressional Affairs. This individual will help lead Cisco’s government affairs work with the Congress, the Administration and other federal agencies, with a focus on telecommunications issues. Your duties will include: 

Building strong political relationships with key Congressional Members and staff

Advocate Cisco’s public policy positions with government leaders

Provide direct support and counsel to Cisco executives in meetings with key government officials

Collaborate with other companies and industries to advance key public policy goals

Manage Cisco’s activities at trade associations and industry coalitions related to public policy   issues

Manage Cisco’s political activities, including Cisco’s employee political action committee

 

Who You’ll Work With

Cisco Government Affairs is a global team of 30 professionals who represent the company with governments at all level globally.  The group builds relationships with government leaders and policymakers to drive legislation and regulation that encourages innovation and adoption of networking technology.

 

 Who You Are

 You offer 5-10 years of U.S. Congressional and political experience combined with the following:

 

● Demonstrated interest and experience handling Congressional relations and advocacy

 ● Experience staffing and briefing senior government officials and/or executives

● Familiarity with public policy issues that impact the technology industry

● Self-starter with strong relationship building skills

● Strong political judgment and experience in managing complex political situations

● Ability to handle multiple issues and responsibilities fully and effectively

● Ability to think on your feet and work under tight deadlines
