What you'll do at

Develops and maintains packaging standards that represent various distribution networks in the Walmart supply chain by providing guidance and support to associates and managers responsible for supplier and stakeholder compliance; supporting the development and execution of a Logistics Supplier Compliance Program; engaging Walmart Sustainability to ensure the entire supply chain is evaluated when targeting packaging reductions; authoring changes to packaging standards; and partnering with global suppliers to create packaging standards for globally sourced items.
Acts as the subject matter expert for end-to-end supply chain packaging by creating innovative packaging solutions for categories or items; identifying, developing, and implementing package designs; ensuring packaging decisions align with Walmart’s packaging standards; managing global sourcing research, identification, and formalization of packaging procurement strategies; creating optimal packaging configurations for overseas transport; analyzing and interpreting sales and damage data; drawing conclusions and recommending next steps to complete projects and leverage new learning; and responding to general packaging questions.
Educates, informs, and builds awareness of packaging within the company and with other key stakeholders by developing relationships with associates outside of the packaging area, product and packaging suppliers, and governmental and non-governmental organizations on packaging; educating stakeholders on the value contribution of packaging to the business including the realization of benefits from specific packaging initiatives or deliverables; creating training materials; hosting seminars and meetings on packaging; and recognizing and capitalizing on opportunities to engage with key stakeholders in new and innovative ways to ensure packaging initiatives are adopted by the organization
Drives continuous improvement and packaging innovation by reviewing and analyzing internal processes to highlight opportunities for cost reductions and process efficiencies; developing and continually reviewing objectives that continuously refine business processes to maximize end-to-end efficiency and customer value; keeping up-to-date on technology and industry standards that can or should be implemented to increase efficiency and cost savings; driving packaging solutions and requirements to address innovation in distribution automation; and working upstream to reduce packaging issues by key stakeholders (for example, engaging merchandising, item file team and supplier on-boarding programs).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field and 4 years’ experience in packaging, procurement, engineering, project management,
or related field OR 6 years’ experience in packaging, procurement, engineering, project management, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

Certified Packaging Professional.

2 years’ supervisory experience.
