Position Summary

Marketplace is one of the fastest growing and dynamic businesses for aimed at constantly meeting the assortment needs of our customers. In this position, the Sr. Business Manager Marketplace will play a key role in driving the strategic direction, program development and business development activities of the Marketplace program.

This is a senior business manager role that requires the ability to develop key strategies and tactics to enable growth in the marketplace business and deliver value to partners. A strong understanding of marketplace models, deep ecommerce experience and industry knowledge are required for this role to drive the program development priorities, lead the business development efforts, and contribute to the program strategy.

Successful candidates should be quick learners, strategic thinkers, problem solvers, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. This role is heavily cross-functional, requiring working knowledge and coordination with merchandising, finance, marketing, operations, and technical teams. This is an ideal role for a candidate who loves to define and build new businesses and isn’t shy to get into the tactics to make strategies come to life.

Position Description

  • Develops and implements strategy for multiple or complex departments or categories

  • Drives alignment across multiple cross-functional teams to ensure the achievement of business objectives

  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects for the merchandising/services area

  • Ensures business needs are being met

  • Manages multiple or complex product or service assortment and delivery channels

  • Oversees and directs the creation and execution of new feature and product development roadmaps

  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of related work experience years of related work experience

  • Online ecommerce experience required

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to persuade, communicate vision and motivate people at every level within Wal-Mart and partner organizations; cooperative working style

  • Highly analytical with an ability to make data-driven decisions; possessing excellent business/financial analysis skills with the ability to translate identified opportunities into a strategic plan

  • Performs well in an environment with competing priorities, multiple projects, and a virtual teams

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Good project management skills

  • Detail-oriented and strong follow-through

  • Positive, upbeat, can-do attitude

  • MBA with strategy, finance concentrations preferred
