Description **Role Summary**

The Portfolio and Decision Analysis group (PDA), part of the Global Business Analytics (GBA) organization, is uniquely positioned within Pfizer to facilitate strategic discussions, advise on tough investment and trade-off decisions for programs within the clinical portfolio, and to serve as an "early warning system" for potential issues that could impact decision-making. This role involves working in close collaboration with Asset Teams (e.g., clinical development, commercial development, operations, finance) and senior leaders to identify strategic issues, facilitate discussion, and implement qualitative and/or quantitative analyses to inform decision-making.

This role is dynamic, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and covers a broad range of R&D, commercial, and strategic topics that are critical to our business. In addition, we are constantly driving thought leadership with our business partners, and continuously seeking new and creative ways to communicate highly complex and dynamic information.

**Role Responsibilities**

**Portfolio analysis**

+ Establish highly collaborative, cross-functional relationships / partnerships with key stakeholders both within group and across Pfizer

+ Lead cross-functional strategic R&D portfolio projects for senior stakeholders that identify portfolio trends, risks, and opportunities

+ Address portfolio-related questions from most senior levels of Pfizer management in an effective and compelling way to ensure stakeholder buy-in

+ Create relevant portfolio views that acknowledge and align to the needs of different senior audiences; communicate strategic themes, as well as recommendations, to maximize portfolio value

+ Proactively develop new ideas and / or initiatives that can add value to clients, building on other products / initiatives as appropriate

**Portfolio prioritization**

+ Support the design, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of annual R&D portfolio prioritization process

+ Integrate project-level metrics into a cohesive end-to-end portfolio story to ensure senior leadership support

+ Understand and monitor dynamic portfolio changes, as well as implications to broader decision-making

+ Identify and develop new and creative ways to view the end-to-end portfolio that will deliver insights on innovation and value

**Decision analysis**

+ Lead analyses across large cross-functional teams that guide strategic investment decisions by implementing decision analysis (DA) methodologies to evaluate alternatives and incorporate relevant cost, risk, and return inputs

+ Clearly communicate critical insights which impact strategic investment decisions by bringing the project / asset teams to clarity in their recommendations to governance

+ Develop and apply appropriate analytical frameworks to help inform decision-making with crisp and fit-for-purpose analyses

+ Support executive briefings and prepare teams for a decision to invest

+ **Influencer:** Clearly articulates expectations, capabilities, and action plans; actively listens with others' frame of reference in mind; appropriately shares information with team; favorably influences people without direct authority,

+ **Financially / analytically proficient:** Possesses strong understanding and expertise of expected cash flow modeling, economic value measures (e.g., NPV, IRR), and other types of analytical modeling (e.g., Monte Carlo simulation, decision tree analysis, multi-attribute analysis)

**Professional experience and educational requirements**

+ Advanced degree in business, decision analysis, medicine / science, or related quantitative field

+ At least 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, finance, strategic planning, or decision analysis

+ Expertise in healthcare required; expertise in biopharmaceuticals preferred

+ Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with SQL or VBA a plus
