The Product Discovery Sr. Manager/Scientist role will be responsible for delivering the innovation pipeline 3+ years and beyond for the Snacks category. The specific position will be expected to collaborate with Insights, Design, Culinary and Packaging teams to define prototypes that deliver for the consumer need.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the consumer need, identify opportunity areas for the company and build viable prototype options in the macrosnack category.
  • Leverage understanding of consumer methodologies of insights and sensory to identify consumer needs and translate needs into prototype opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external partners (vendors, contractors, universities) to explore potential technologies for process & product development
  • Lead research team of internal resources and external contractors through defining research strategy from ideation, to physical prototype demonstration, including consumer testing, bench and process lab trials, and iteration change process.
  • Identify and interpret technology trends which have the potential to create technology push opportunities for PepsiCo leading to a clear and concise proposal to be assessed by key stakeholders for investment.
  • Translate consumer insights and culinary creations into a product attribute matrix to create technical requirements list for product development.
  • Management of Projects, Intellectual Property & Budgets associated with Product Discovery Programming.


  • M.S./Ph.D in Food Science, Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
  • 10 yrs+ in product development within a consumer products company
  • Demonstration of understanding of Consumer Insight science.
  • Demonstration of understanding of Food Process Technologies
  • Understanding of Packaging structures and Processes.
  • Experimental Design, Statistics and consumer methodologies
  • In-depth analytical skills to interpret complex data, evaluate risk and distill into meaningful information.
