As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll be responsible for answering incoming calls / completing outbound calls to / from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity. This role is equally challenging and rewarding. As a Senior Pharmacy Technician team member, you'll help identify problems and determine solutions both independently or in a team / group setting. You'll need to work within multiple computer systems simultaneously as you respond to questions or provide specific medication details / clinical information. It's a fast-paced, high-volume environment where accuracy is essential.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Enter prescriptions and verify appropriate information
  • Contact patients, pharmacists and doctor's offices to resolve claims issues and / or validate data, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilities.
  • Process prescriptions (from intake to order completion)
  • Resolve customer issues while ensuring accurate information is provided
  • Dispense any or all of the following: specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV, and related supplies following state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures
  • May compound medications using appropriate components, supplies and sterile / ventilated environment
  • Pack and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies and patient collateral (education materials) are included
  • May also perform drug / supply ordering and inventory / warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies and appropriate refrigeration of perishable product, monitor and adjust / calibrate pharmacy equipment, fill dispensing units
  • Prep and scan documents
  • Input and retrieve prescription and medical / lab information from computer system, verifies whether order / drug is reimbursable / covered
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma / GED or 10+ years of equivalent work experience
  • State of California Pharmacy Technician License and / or National PTCB License (license must be current, active, and unrestricted)
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, PST including availability to be on call least one weekend per month and as business needs arise
  • 6+ months of pharmacy related experience (includes retail pharmacy experience)
  • Proficiency with a computer and Windows PC applications including ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system application
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of sterile compounding experience in a hospital or home infusion environment
  • 6+ months of Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital environment
