We are looking for someone who is passionate about product and trend and who is ready to offer recommendations to grow our brands! This position will play a meaningful role in the development of private branded product on http://Walmart.com. The Sr. Specialist will own and manage the product development process for their own category, while simultaneously supporting the product development manager with the execution of the post commitment process. In addition to this core function, the product specialist will manage the sample receipt and approvals, competitive assessments, development presentations, Item Development Matrix creation, and build relationships with suppliers.

The ideal candidate will have product development and/or merchandising experience. You should be very detail-orientated and organized and have the ability to manage different timelines at once. You should also be able to work cross-functionally with various members of the team and supplier base. You should be a highly motivated self-starter with a desire to learn and grow in the position.City:SAN BRUNOState:CAPosition Description:Essential Functions

Works independently; manages projects in business area or category from strategy through execution

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience

Impacts a range of customer, operational, project, retail or service activities within own business area or category

Maintains specialized knowledge of the company, processes, industry and customers

Leads a range of assignments related to business area or category

Solves complex problems; uses analytical and deductive thinking and exercises judgement to create solutions

Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of consumer product development objectives

Ensures completion of assigned product development activities (e.g., stakeholder identification, product definition, scope, boundaries, targets and timeline) in the roadmap and monitors against KPIs

Identifies and elevates issues to consumer product manager that may affect product timelines for the category or business area and recommends potential solutions

Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of product development strategy and independently executes product development plans

Suggests additional development opportunities for the product development forecast based on product and category knowledge and interaction with category specialists, suppliers, and related team members

Performs product research and coordinates with category and related teams to analyze performance and product features within a category or business area

Identifies industry trends by examining product and sales data for a category or business area to measure impact of existing features and potential areas for improvement

Coordinates with category and marketing teams to gather information, data and requirements

Collaborates with cross-functional team members in own category or business area (i.e., Marketing, Merchandising, Consumer Insights, Creative Resources) to assist with the execution of product development plans

Effectively communicates consumer product requirements for the category to business partners and suppliers

Coaches/mentors and supports training for less experienced team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance
