POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Risk Manager develops and deploys Environmental, Health and Safety programs, reports, records and infrastructure as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies, and devises systems, training, data collection and metrics to achieve the overarching goals of minimizing violations, harm to employees, property loss and operational cost. Also manages the administration of the Workers’ Compensation program.

JOB DUTIES:

Duty: Safety and Health program functions (50%)

Duty:  Workers’ Compensation administration (20%)

Duty: Environmental Functions (permits, waste, coordinate contractors, documentation) (20%)                        

Duty: Fire suppression and alarm systems (10%)

  • Develop appropriate data collection and measurement systems (metrics) to support regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement goals.
  • Coordinate on-site safety inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices; collect and log site reports, distribute to appropriate AJC team, ensure corrective actions are identified and executed, and file/log documentation appropriately.
  • Provide EHS training and training opportunities for employees. Maintain required safety documents/files including, but not limited to: training documentation, safety policies, procedure manuals, etc.; update as necessary and distribute/communicate all updates in a timely manner.
  • Manage hearing conservation program including conducting employee hearing tests
  • Administer all environmental permits, required reports, sampling, tracking, inspections, and applications
  • Manage regulated waste streams for compliant and economical disposal.
  • Work closely with operations management in assuring that EHS, production and other operational objectives are complementary.
  • Work with regulatory agencies, contractors and suppliers
  • Maintain injury files and required OSHA recording. Keep abreast of Federal & State OSHA standards; research regulatory requirements, industry standards and health and safety best practices and ensure that jobsites and staff are operating in compliance.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation Administration. Build, maintain, and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims related parties. Ensure external and internal reporting requirements are met.
  • SPA (Single Point Accountable) for fire suppression and alarm systems.
  • Coordinates:  Annual inspection and testing, repairs and maintenance of building sprinkler, pre-action and clean agent suppression and alarm systems; Annual and monthly fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance; monthly emergency lighting inspection and maintenance.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (EHS, engineering, management)

 
CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist
 

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five years’ experience managing EHS in an industrial setting.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards for General Industry, Construction
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal environmental standards Air, Water, Waste: permitting, compliance, documentation
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation administration
  • Knowledge of fire suppression and alarm systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows
