**Role Summary:**

The Neurovascular and Blood brain barrier group within the Neurodegeneration 1 line at Pfizer Internal Medicine research unit located in Cambridge, MA is focus ed on addressing key questions surrounding the roles of neurovascular dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of drug discovery efforts centered on identification of novel targets, pathways, and mechanisms in neurodegeneration and identification of associated biomarkers.



**Responsibilities:**



+ We are seeking a highly motivated cell biologist whose primary responsibility will be to design and conduct experiments that advance the development of therapies. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate that has strong experience in cell biology with in-depth expertise in lysosomal biology and intracellular trafficking of proteins.

+ The candidate must be willing to work with live animals and post-mortem tissues.

+ The position requires the candidate to design, complete experimental studies, carry out data analyses and interpretation, and report findings to the team.

+ The candidate must be highly driven, independent, very organized, and detail oriented scientist, and possess strong communication skills to thrive in our highly collaborative environment.

+ This role will interface with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in the Internal Medicine Research Unit, and engage in both target exploration and driving established projects in our portfolio.

+ The successful candidate will also be a critical part of the team focused on delineating novel mechanisms and pathways for drug discovery and biomarker identification in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.



**Qualifications:**



+ Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, immunology or Biochemistry is required with 0-3 years of relevant experience.

+ Deep expertise in cell biology with emphasis on lysosomal biology and intracellular protein trafficking is essential.

+ Extensive experience in cell biology, biochemical assays and molecular biology techniques is required.

+ Extensive experience with in vitro model systems is critical, experience with human brain endothelial cell cultures is a plus.

+ Candidate must have a track record of publications.

+ Experience with in vivo studies in rodent models of neurodegeneration is highly desired.

+ Prior experience in the pharmaceutical setting is desired.

+ Candidate should be self-motivated, be able to review literature to formulate new ideas, be meticulous, and have the ability to work independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in a highly collaborative environment.
