**Role Summary**



We are seeking a highly motivated and creative candidate with a strong background in tumor immunology and T cell biology for a Senior Scientist role with the T cell Immuno-Oncology (I-O) Group in Pfizer. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to pursue their own immuno-oncology research project working with a group of researchers evaluating novel cancer immunotherapies, immune checkpoint biology, and innate immunity. Specifically, the candidate will provide immuno-oncology expertise, identifying unique tumor-specific micro-environmental cues that impact T cell differentiation, trafficking, and function using a variety of tools including, classic molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, as well as modern imaging techniques, systems immunology, bioinformatics, and preclinical in vitro and in vivo models. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with other disciplines across Pfizer to drive early discovery research programs into early clinical development.







**Role Responsibilities**







+ Independently design and rigorously execute studies to discover and develop new therapeutic modalities for cancer immunotherapy.



+ Evaluate the anatomical distribution, persistence, and function of tumor antigen-specific T cells in preclinical models of cancer.



+ Explore disease mechanisms and mechanisms of drug action in vitro and in vivo .



+ Collaborate with protein engineering, computational biology, T cell redirecting therapy group and clinical development group to pursue the most promising drug candidates through clinical trials.



+ Participate in collaboration on novel I-O targets with internal and external collaborators.



+ Actively participate in and present data at group meetings, global project team meetings, and site meetings.







**Qualifications**







+ Ph.D. in Immunology with 1-2 years of experience in T cell biology and/or tumor immunology.



+ Strong understanding of innate and adoptive immune systems.



+ In-depth understanding of:







-T cell subsets and surface markers - Teff, Tem, Tcm, Trm, Treg, Th1, Th2 etc.



-Inhibitory and co-stimulatory molecules and their associated signal transduction pathways.







+ Solid technical knowledge and hands-on experience with conventional immunological techniques.



+ Broad experience in assessing T cell function, differentiation, and memory development.



+ Experience in immune cell isolation and characterization using multi-color flow cytometry.



+ Working knowledge of various murine tumor and/or infectious disease models.



+ Ability to evaluate and recommend new therapeutic concepts in the area of immune modulation.



+ Pro-active attitude and strong desire to discover novel biology and potential new drugs.



+ Strong oral presentation and communication skills.

+ Ability to analyze and interpret work published in the field and use it to place our work in context
