*Role Description*

We seek a self-motivated and expert cell biologist at the senior scientist level to join our dynamic team of scientists in the Oncology Cell Cycle Signaling Group in the Tumor Cell Biology Department of Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla, California, to play a key role in development of novel therapies in cancer.Participate in drug discovery and translational research projects focusing on DNA damage and repair pathway. Contribute to experimental drug discovery and identification of combinatorial therapeutic regimens for cancer treatment. Employ cutting-edge in vitro methods and animal models.



*Responsibilities*

* Collaborate with Pfizer's world-class chemical biology and computational biology groups to identify novel mechanisms and targets regulating DNA damage responses. Work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop novel small molecule cancer therapeutics. Contribute to all stages of preclinical drug discovery and development. * Strong laboratory background to design, conduct experiments, analyze and present cell biology mechanism of action studies and develop novel combination concepts to support Oncology pipeline. * Actively and effectively interact with cross-functional lines.



*Qualifications*

Education and Experience: * Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Signaling or a related subject with 1-3 years' postdoctoral training experience in DNA damage and repair field. * At least five years of cancer research experience emphasizing DNA damage and repair; strong publication record or equivalent achievements in pharmaceutical or biotech industry.Technical Skill Requirements: * Proven ability to make important scientific contributions to DNA damage and repair field. * Strong expertise in DNA damage checkpoints, DNA damage and repair pathways, synthetic lethality, or targeting DNA repair. * Competence to stay on top of novel scientific developments and to identify and quickly enter relevant new scientific field to make significant contributions. * A proven high-level of technical competence and extensive experience in standard cell and molecular biology and assays for DNA damages are essential.* Experience in CRISPR approach for synthetic lethality screen is a plus* Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English. Proficiency in all common office and scientific software. * Strong ability to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and diverse team environment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations, ability to read, comprehend and process complex scientific matter, and to perform complex data analysis. Ability to travel by air, water and ground. NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Ability to accommodate non-standard work schedules due to experimental regimen or travel. Ability to adhere to safe work practices and wear full personal protective equipment. Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
