Description The Gene Therapy Translational Science group is part of Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) located in Cambridge MA focused on gene therapy specific platform technologies towards the delivery of IND-approved vectors for testing in clinical trials. This Senior Scientist will be part of an interdisciplinary team partnering closely with the RDRU Biology and Gene Therapy groups as well as colleagues in other Pfizer disciplines contributing to translational preclinical packages related to novel gene therapies.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Performing in vivo experiments related to delivering AAV gene therapy vectors. Work will include optimizing AAV-based therapy formulations, routes of administration and understanding in vivo tissue distribution/cellular tropism.

+ Partner with other RDRU and Pfizer teams, especially pharmacokinetics and drug disposition and drug safety to develop translational preclinical packages for gene therapy clinical candidates.

+ Deliver high-value data and lead in vivo aspects of AAV-based gene therapy projects in the RDRU pipeline.

+ Execute preclinical AAV delivery studies utilizing various routes of administration.

+ Work with external collaborations and Contract Research Organizations (CROs).





**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Ph.D. in the life sciences with >2 years of post-doctoral experience.

+ Scientific training and background in AAV formulation, in vivo delivery and construct detection/efficacy.

+ Hands on experience performing and analyzing in vivo biology assays; previous work with AAV required.

+ Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

+ Evidence of scientific accomplishments in the form of publications and presentations.
