*Role Description*

As a Senior Scientist within the Biocatalysis Technologies Group the candidate will develop biocatalytic chemical syntheses in support of medicinal chemistry programs. The candidate will identify opportunities for the application of biocatalysis within Pfizer's early stage pharmaceutical development programs, conduct screening and optimization of biocatalytic processes and employ these biotransformations to advance the small molecule API portfolio.*Please submit your resume and a research summary with your application. *Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include:*The design, development and execution of biocatalysis-based chemical processes to support early stage pharmaceutical development.*Independent employment of a comprehensive understanding of established and modern biocatalysis methodologies to drive projects.*The chemical synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates in support of biocatalytic route development.*Working with external partners to run biocatalytic processes and acquire biocatalysts.*The development of new biocatalysis-based technologies.*May be responsible for enzyme engineering and biocatalyst production.



*Qualifications*

*PhD in a chemistry or biology-based subject with a focus on biocatalysis and chemical synthesis with 0-3 years of experience. Post-doctoral experience is desirable.*Excellent track record of developing and executing biocatalytic chemical processes is essential.*Expert understanding of and strong contributions to the biocatalysis-based chemistry literature are essential.*Comprehensive knowledge of established and modern chemical synthesis methodologies is required.*Strong analytical and biocatalytic/chemical problem solving skills are required.*Experience of molecular biology is desirable.*Experience of biocatalyst production techniques is desirable.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:Some (limited) travel may be required for this role.
