*Role Description*

We seek a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated cancer biologist to join the Oncology Therapeutics Discovery Group located in Pearl River, New York. The preferred candidate should have a deep understanding of tumor cell signaling with a focus on ER stress and a strong motivation to harness this knowledge for drug discovery toward impactful therapies for cancer patients.



*Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will work independently as part of a research team that is focused on the identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets.Specific responsibilities include:*Utilize expertise in cell signaling, ER stress, metabolism and cancer immunology to design, execute, and analyze/interpret experiments to uncover novel areas of cancer biology that can be exploited therapeutically to maximize patient response.*Apply genetic and pharmacologic approaches to modulate tumor intrinsic and TME targets and assess the functional impact on cancer initiation and progression. Execute molecular and cell-based assays across various technology platforms to assess target modulation and measure downstream signaling pathways - high content screening, FACS, immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, ELISA, other multiparametric readout platforms. *Demonstrate a high level of initiative in leading a project work-stream, troubleshooting experiments, performing data analysis, maintaining lab notebooks and ensuring cross-line engagement. Strong commitment to collaboration with other members of the Oncology R&D Unit and supporting partner lines as part of a project team. Highly organized in terms of goal setting and deliverables.*Highly effective communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with ability to clearly articulate scientific hypotheses, results and conclusions to project teams and governance bodies. *Conduct research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of data at internal and external meetingsOrganizational Relationships:Reports to a group leader within the Oncology Therapeutic Discovery Group. Collaborate with colleagues in Functional Genomics, Proteomics & Metabolomics, and Transcriptomics groups. Interface with scientists across partner lines, including Tumor Cell Biology, In Vivo Pharmacology, Oncology Translational Research, Computational Biology, Chemistry and Drug Safety R&D.



*Qualifications*

Requirements for this position include a PhD degree plus post-doctoral training or equivalent experience in cancer biology, cell signaling, tumor metabolism or a related discipline. Well-qualified candidates will have a track record of scientific accomplishments as evidenced by a very strong publication record. Deep understanding of tumor cell signaling / ER stress / metabolism /immuno-oncology is needed plus strong motivation to harness this knowledge for drug discovery. Hands on experience in cell and molecular biology techniques including genetic/chemical manipulation, generation of engineered cell lines, high content/throughput assays, flow cytometry, phenotypic assays are strongly preferred. Experience in target identification / validation is a plus. Strong motivation, interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities are needed for this role.Technical/Additional Skills:- Strong understanding of tumor cell biology and cell /stress signaling pathways.- Experience in target identification/ validation and screening approaches using small-molecule inhibitors , chemical biology tools and/or genetic manipulation (shRNA, CRISPR, etc) is required- Preference for candidates with additional expertise in immuno-oncology and immune regulation- Strong experience working as part of a cross-functional team- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills- Extended periods of sitting and standing
