This individual will provide development expertise, technical analysis, and program leadership to the portfolio of applications in the BSS Application Development and Support Services (BADSS) Field Services/Wifi arena.  The Software Engineer will be working with the BADSS team to build technical design and implementation of Field Service/Wifi applications. This role will interact periodically with application Architects and regularly with technical analyst.  The individual in this position will use their broad technology background, industry knowledge, and facilitation skills to develop and/or enhance automated solutions to the requests made to the BADSS Field Services team.  This role will also require overseeing & providing development guidance to the third-party contractors and vendors involved in solution definition or development. In addition to BADSS development, the duties involve evaluating third party and open source software and interacting with various other development and engineering teams.

Responsible for the build, maintenance and deployment of BADSS field service/ Wifi applications
Determines technical requirements based on interactions with the business community and knowledge of the BADSS field service/Wifi architectures & analysts.
Ensures architectural service designs and improvements are implemented accurately and can be supported per service level agreements.
Works with technical analyst and enterprise architects to ensure the field service/Wifi architecture is aligned with company architectural standards and strategies
Ability to implement the integration of other systems and assist in the evaluation of third party solutions 
Conduct meetings to build requirements, do design work and support peer code reviews
Monitor and assist in the resolution of any problems that may arise from distribution or installation of developed workflows, code or third party solutions involved with field service/Wifi platform.
Continual process and code improvement to continually make the automation platform better and support ever changing requirements
Candidate must be willing to learn new patterns, development languages, integration with different Cox systems and welcomes fast paced environment.
Drives program and project direction across all disciplines, providing guidance, feedback, and recommendations
Create development processes, standards, and best practices and drives necessary improvements
Analyzes internal and external customer feedback to identify quality gaps
Participates in product design and requirement reviews in collaboration with development architects
Reviews and contributes to design work of other assigned to functional group
Ensures design and architectural approaches are aligned with development, operations, infrastructure, and security
Helps identify new tools and or products to aid, enhance, or speed up the design and development process
Experience in developing Service Oriented (SOA), Web Services.
Performs proof-of-concept (POC) using newer technologies to better demonstrate certain capabilities to business partners.



Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 8+ years’ experience in related field.  Certification is required in some areas OR advanced degree and generally 5+ years’ experience in related field.
Requires strong  knowledge of Software Design and Development lifecycle.
Requires strong  knowledge of Software Development Methodologies.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate and partner with enterprise architects, technical leaders, and Business partners.
Excellent program / project management skills and an ability to manage a portfolio of initiatives.
Displays the ability to influence people regardless of reporting relationships.
Displays a high level of technical and organizational critical thinking and analysis, and the ability to strategize and look ahead at the big picture.
Displays good communication and negotiation skills both horizontally and vertically.
Ability to operate with considerable latitude and independent judgement – should be a self-starter, and should require little following up to get things done.

Recognized subject matter expert and recognized internally for knowledge and expertise in technical domains.  May contribute to external publications and participate in industry events.
Technical experience developing and using traditional stacks/platforms: Oracle DB, SQL, Javascript frameworks (AngularJS, Bootstrap, JQuery etc.), JBoss Fuse, Perl, HTML5, Java.
Be a team player

BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (software engineering, computer science, or similar).  
10+ years direct experience in Software Development roles or similar.
Working knowledge of DevOps standards and disciplines, including deployment and build automation, continuous integration, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Continuous Delivery.
Working knowledge of industry standard DevOps tools, including Jenkins, Docker, Git, SVN, and SonarQube or similar.
Some PowerPoint experience
Direct experience in Software Configuration Management roles
Prior experience working for an MSO. 
Experience configuring and/or administering a Workforce Management System – Oracle Field Service Cloud (formerly TOA) Technologies.
Exposure to Saas applications, e.g. SalesForce etc.
