Senior Software Engineer

The Business Entity – CPSG

Cloud Platform and Services Group is developing a suite of software products that adheres to the ETSI NFV Management and Orchestration standard. The solution is an important part of Cisco's virtualization strategy and enables the powerful 'orchestration engine'.

The Team

The CPSG team will design, develop, and deploy transformational experiences leveraging Cloud Technologies for the Cloud Services market. This group within Cisco tasked with building the solution from the ground up to transform the future of virtual services delivery

Role and Responsibility:

You'll be part of a dynamic team and be the type of person who has a track record in deploying and supporting SaaS offerings, comfortable eating your own dog food and wearing many hats in the process of supporting customer platforms, operating support tools, and maintaining service SLAs to our customers. This role has the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver features for the Service Monitoring and Assurance areas of the product.
  • Develop and deliver features on time and with quality
  • Contribute to work being done for Platform Scalability, Redundancy, High Availability
  • Suggest improvements to product to make the application high performing.
  • Work as part of a high performance team in a fast paced, high visibility environment on a top Cisco initiative
  • Collaborate with other agile scrum teams across locations, including India development center in Bangalore.
  • Remain knowledgeable about emerging standards and trends
  • Mentor junior developers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 8+ years of experience in development of large distributed enterprise applications (scalable, reliable, available, distributed)
  • Extensive experience working with Telegraf (preferred) and InfluxDB for metrics and data collection    
  • Expert level knowledge of SNMP
  • Expert level knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring, Servlets, JSPs
  • Expert level knowledge of SOA and Java Web Services - REST, SOAP, XML, XSL
  • Good knowledge of the following technologies: Kafka,, Consul, Vault
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases like Cassandra.
  • In-depth knowledge of application servers like Jetty, Tomcat
  • Familiarity with build process and tools like Gradle, Jenkins
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related fields
