Position Description





As a Senior Software Engineer for our Managed File Transfer (MFT) team you'll have the opportunity to contribute to an historic transformation in health care and change the way our businesses and consumers engage with technology. The MFT platform processes close to ½ million files and many millions of transactions per day. You will be a key technical contributor on the MFT team.




Primary Responsibilities:



  • Engage in all aspects of the SDLC related to a high-volume end-to-end file transfer solution (including movement, security and monitoring considerations)
  • Architect, design and implement product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
  • Drive an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases every 2 weeks through Sprints
  • Design, develop and prioritize innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business
  • Ensure platform conforms to performance & security standards
  • Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with root-cause solutions as required
  • Explore new solutions/tools (including Open Source options) to enhance platform performance





  • 5 + years of hands-on coding experience with Java

  • 5 + years of experience developing high-volume transaction processing web applications

  • 3 + years of working knowledge of software engineering best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, design patterns, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • 3 + years of experience with JavaScript, Spring framework

  • Demonstrated knowledge of web security considerations and tools

  • Deep AngularJS expertise

  • Track record of success delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology

  • Belief in and knowledge of Open Source frameworks

  • Proven success prioritizing software releases / deliverables

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work with minimal direction



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Apache Kafka, Cassandra and/or Spark

  • Optum Electronic Communication Gateway

  • Proven experience with Axway

  • Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST based interfaces
