Description

Summary:

The Software Test Engineer is responsible for developing automated testing strategies and implementing them in industry standard testing frameworks. The Software Test Engineer provides testing automated testing expertise and oversight and also plays a role in providing advice and guidance and monitoring emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops and executes diverse software performance and functional tests based on application requirements written in C# .NET
  • Write C scripts from scratch on the LoadRunner product
  • Customize and enhance Vugen scripts to emulate real world users
  • Determine appropriate test strategies on continuous testing for agile scrum development teams; and volume-based tests for a given release
  • Designs and creates performance tests scenarios and execute them in HP Performance Center
  • Helps design, write, and execute end-to-end automated test scripts using RobotFramework/Selenium
  • Sets up monitoring both in HP Performance Center and with support team members 
  • Identify, analyze and assess potential performance bottlenecks and risks to Dealertrack systems and works closely with technical teams to support and recommend actions to minimize them
  • Partner with technical teams to recommend and support remediating bottlenecks or functional defects 
  • Documents test procedures, analysis and results and proposes process improvement
  • Develops workload models using web logs/metrics for various applications
  • Creates Performance Center server monitoring profiles and documentation for test support
  • Perform debugging procedures by reviewing configuration files, logs, or code pieces to determine breakdown source
  • Stay abreast of QA industry best practices, methodologies and standards.
  • Documents test procedures, analysis and results
  • Contributor or assist in project status meetings/sprint planning sessions, in representation of the automation team (performance or functional QA).
  • Contributes via knowledge sharing and mentoring with team members
  • May need to closely interact with offshore team members on detailed tasks and deliverables
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • 5+ years of experience in Performance Testing, assisting with delivery of optimized and scalable applications through the development of performance and functional tests 
  • 3+ years of experience with HP LoadRunner [Vugen] is a must
  • 2+ years of experience with open source automation tools such as RobotFramework or Selenium a must
  • 3+ years’ experience in C Scripting to automate performance test scenarios
  • Expertise of correlation and parameterization to achieve user emulation is a must
  • Expertise of Vugen API and C usage in scripts is a must
  • Knowledge of performance testing lifecycle is a must 
  • 3+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL Query tools a must
  • 3+ years of experience with performance analysis, tuning, and monitoring in a web-based application n-tier environment a must
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and technologies 
  • Self-Starter
