This individual will provide architectural direction, technical analysis, and program leadership to the portfolio of applications in the BADSS Field Services arena.  This role will interact periodically with Technology executives and regularly with technical leaders.  The individual in this position will use their broad technology background, industry knowledge, and facilitation skills to define and/or enhance automated solutions to the requests made to the BADSS Field Services team.  This role will also provide leadership and guidance to the third-party contractors and vendors involved in solution definition or development.


Provides architectural and solution direction, program leadership with a focus on enhancing quality across all Technology disciplines.

Drives program and project direction across all disciplines, providing guidance, feedback, and recommendations

Aligns proposed solutions with the strategic direction of products, and organizational, Technology, and Business goals

Analyzes development processes, standards, and best practices and drives necessary improvements

Analyzes internal and external customer feedback to identify quality gaps

Participates in product design and requirement reviews in collaboration with development architects

Reviews and contributes to design work of other assigned to functional group

Ensures design and architectural approaches are aligned with development, operations, infrastructure, and security

Helps drive architectural and development standards across the portfolio of projects in Field Services

Drives continuous improvements to coverage, execution, and automation for all phases of testing

Provides quality summaries and dashboard reporting – both written and verbal

Helps define procedures to certify production readiness for large programs

Helps identify new tools and or products to aid, enhance, or speed up the design and development process

Drives proof-of-concept (PoC) exercises to demonstrate capabilities and value of new technology solutions




Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline or work equivalent. Generally 5+ years’ experience in related field.  Certification is required in some areas OR advanced degree and generally 5+ years’ experience in related field or equivalent.

2+ years of experience leading cross functional projects

Requires strong  knowledge of Software Design and Architectural principles and practices.

Requires strong  knowledge of Software Development Methodologies.

Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate and partner with Technology executives, technical leaders, and Business partners.

Excellent program / project management skills and an ability to manage a portfolio of initiatives.

Displays the ability to influence people regardless of reporting relationships.

Displays a high level of technical and organizational critical thinking and analysis, and the ability to strategize and look ahead at the big picture.

Displays good communication and negotiation skills both horizontally and vertically.

Ability to operate with considerable latitude and independent judgement – should be a self-starter, and should require little following up to get things done. 

Possesses good listening skills and articulates in ways that are understood by the listener.

Recognized subject matter expert and recognized internally for knowledge and expertise in technical domains.  May contribute to external publications and participate in industry events.

May direct major projects or programs with significant business impact


BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (software engineering, computer science, or similar).  

8+ years direct experience in Software Development roles or similar.

Working knowledge of DevOps standards and disciplines, including deployment and build automation, continuous integration, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Continuous Delivery.

Working knowledge of industry standard DevOps tools, including Jenkins, Docker, Git, and SonarQube or similar.

Working knowledge of SaaS applications, Mobile applications, REST API / Web Services, Cloud integrations

Experience with Field Service and/or Outside Plant Maintenance business and technologies

Experience configuring/administering Workforce Management system, preferably Oracle Field Service Cloud

Extensive PowerPoint experience

Direct experience in Software Configuration Management roles

Experience with TM forum framework, TOGAF certification

Prior experience working for an MSO.
