Develops commodity sourcing strategy for assigned products by Collaborates with cross-functional business partners (for example, merchants, planners) to understand growth in items, regions and growing methods; Understands varietals grown in geographical regions to meet long-term multi-country specific product needs; Serves as a subject matter and industry expert in understanding multiple commodities and items sourced both in- and out-of-season for country of assignment; Oversees assigned sourcing programs at item level, including seasonal and in-country regions and growing areas; Influences internal and external business partners (for example, growers, merchants) to bring product and packaging innovation to market. Aligns the sourcing strategy with merchant\u0027s annual operating plan (AOP); Provides perishability and quality insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions; Incorporates company growth strategy into planning (for example, upstreaming, growth in direct import (DI), protected agriculture); Coordinates commodities among hubs when necessary to ensure seamless transition between growing regions. Creates vendor decision matrix by Evaluates new and existing vendors based on performance metrics and long-term potential; Incorporates company strategy into alignment decisions (for example, freshness, upstreaming, product availability, locally grown programs); Negotiates with vendors to obtain freshest product at the lowest sustainable cost; Calculates and understands the business\u0027 cost impact of the commodity\u0027s initial mark-up (IMU). Measures and tracks awarded cost against actual cost through the commitment tracker; Ensures cost keys are accurate; Informs planner and buyer of changes to crop conditions that will affect cost of goods. Develops strategic grower and vendor relationships for business continuity by Identifies, develops and maintains grower relationships that meet company financial, ethical, and sustainability standards; Assesses and develops vendor production, distribution and technological capabilities to ensure adequate supply for Global Produce; Identifies and develops new growing regions globally; Conducts quarterly performance reviews with all vendors; Manages and resolves vendor issues.
