Who You'll Work With

The Cisco Advanced Lab Operations (CALO) Virtualization, Infrastructure, and Security team (VI) seeks an exceptional and highly motivated Systems Administrator who demonstrates the drive, problem-solving, prioritization, technology know-how and interpersonal skills that indicate potential success in this role. The incumbent will work with an extremely technically advanced cross-functional team and will be implementing and supporting infrastructure that supports mission critical Cisco Services labs across 14+ sites globally.

    Must be willing to work flexible hours/on-call on the occasion of a major system outage.
    Must be willing to work rotating on-call duty on a regular basis in a 24 x 7 x 365 operational environment.

What You'll Do

This position requires the candidate to perform system administration tasks on our global infrastructure.

    Deploy architectures at global scale for Cisco TAC globally to consume
    Lead Global Infrastructure Projects
    Lead Junior System Administrators
    Implement/Support Global Infrastructure
    Help evolve continuous innovation by participating in technical research projects
    Present technical assessment and design of complex solutions to Sr. Architects for guidance or approval

Who You Are

    BS/MS Degree in Computing Security, Network and System Administration, CS, or related IT field
    8+ Years Experience in a related field, ideally with emerging technologies
    Analytical thinker and problem solver with an automation-first mentality
    Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as keen attention to detail
    Excellent time management with strong organizational skills and the ability to drive and implement ideas in a changing environment
    A team player who balances individual responsibilities, gives and welcomes feedback, and exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views

Desired Skills

    Solid experience with Linux/FreeBSD (security, performance tuning, management, automation, administration)
    Fluent using the CLI to interact with operating systems and tools
    Programming and Scripting knowledge (Shell, Ruby/Python, Go, Other)
    Solid understanding of Git version control and GitHub Workflow
    Responds promptly to service outages, identifies the problem, recovers the service, and documents the issues/timelines.
    Experience with Ansible or other Configuration Management software
    Strong grasp of compute security features (firewall, intrusion detection, audit tools)
    Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and HTTP/REST
    Extensive experience with Virtualization Technologies (VMware, KVM, OpenStack)
    Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues
    Experience with ELKG (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana and Grafana)
    Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies
    Experience architecting, designing and implementing highly reliable solutions
    Familiarity with open source monitoring tools
