Cox Communications is looking for a Virtualization Administrator to support a large and complex virtual environment hosting over 9,000 VMs and 600 plus hosts.  The Virtualization System Administrator will demonstrate expertise in the installation, configuration, and administration of VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, VMware Cloud suite and OpenStack. The Virtualization System Administrator will also use their knowledge of VMware applications and physical infrastructure services and their integration within the virtual infrastructure. The Virtualization System Administrator must be comfortable in a large multi-platform environment and be responsive to all the needs of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: 
• Design, setup, and maintain Dell and Cisco UCS hardware and hypervisor technologies
• Automate current processes to streamline deployment of VMs and VMware hypervisors 
• Perform capacity management using VMware vRealize Operations
• Automate the management of the infrastructure 
• Design and architect technical solutions and collaborate on projects 
• Identify and recommend options for improving performance, maintainability, and operability of existing systems 
• Daily administration of systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance to be shared with a senior team of administrators 
• Provide OS support, including networking, SAN, Load-Balancing, and applications
• Oversee hypervisor provisioning, configuration management, and patch management 
• Implement automation- process, platform builds, and upgrades
• Oversee server tuning, capacity management, and inventory management
• Provide hardware support and Engineering/Architecture/Design guidance
• Maintain ownership and engineering of infrastructure services used to run the environments (i.e. iDracs, vCenter, VMware Ops Manager, OpenStack, etc.)
• Implement and administer server clustering technologies



• 3 years of installing, configuring, and maintain VMware systems
• 3 years of installing, configuring, and maintain Windows and /or UNIX
• Support large-scale computer systems in a Data Center Environment is a plus
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Must be able to relate to a diverse group of people including technical and development personnel, management, business customers, and vendors in a constructive and effective manner.
• Must have a solid technical background coupled with desire and ability to grasp skills quickly, combined with deep attention to detail along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Project and work flow management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/ Information Systems or related discipline (In-Lieu-of the education 5 years of total full time IT experience required)

• Hands on experience with VMware vSphere Suite 5.5 and 6, VMware vCenter Server/PSC, ESXi troubleshooting, support, VMware vRealize Operations Manager, VMware Log Insight, VMware vRealize Orchestrator and/or OpenStack deployments.
• Windows System Administration
• UNIX (Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) preferred) System Administration
Technical Requirements desired:
• Certification in any of the following is a plus:
• VCP6 certification
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Red Hat Certified Systems Engineer (RHCE)
