POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager, Earned Media (SEO Manager) leads the identification, definition, and execution of initiatives that result in improvements to The Home Depot’s customer experience and resulting performance by improving the discoverability of The Home Depot s site and digital assets in Earned Media.This Manager is responsible for developing a deep understanding of the digital behavior and voice of the customer and transforming this data into actionable insights and initiatives. They are expected to lead a team of analysts to determine critical website changes or content development that will help the company better answer customer needs within Earned Media for key merchandising categories and/or key customer behaviors related to home improvement and the home overall. The manager is also responsible for overseeing the ownership, communication and execution of a data driven strategies that quantifies the material impact of recommendations from the team.

This individual must possess a strong understanding of the Earned Media landscape for maximizing the organic discoverability within search engines such as Google, YouTube, Pinterest and Bing.

The manager will lead analysts that are responsible for supporting rapidly growing businesses and for communicating and driving improvements with cross-functional teams.  This individual will collaborate across teams, creating effective partnerships with digital merchandising and marketing teams, leveraging and following direction from the Director of Earned Media.  Experience developing strategies backed by data and operational programs are essential. This is a high profile position that interacts across the Online and Marketing teams and at various levels, so the ability to communicate with and among diverse audiences is a must.



MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 40% - Manages the identification, definition, and execution of complex Earned Media strategies and roadmaps that typically involve multiple internal (online, marketing, merchandising, product management, technology) and external (agencies, 3rd party vendors) partners. This will include recommendations for site structure and content development or technology and user experience enhancements that enhances the discoverability of The Home Depot within Earned Media. 
  • 20% - Creates and implements processes to optimize the efficiency of the team for data collection and analysis by leveraging internal and external partners in the workflow of improving key categories. 
  • 20% - Measures the ongoing effectiveness of the team s efforts against target metrics, and makes frequent adjustments to strategy to support the customer and business needs. 
  • 20% - Responsible the team s efforts in evangelizing the evolving world of search engines and Earned Media more generally at all levels of the organization in terms of best practices, industry standards, and legal requirements, especially within the merchandising community.
NATURE AND SCOPE
- The position reports to the Sr. Manager, Earned Media or Director of Earned Media.
- Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others in addition to personnel management including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS


Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing, leading and growing a team
- 5+ years of SEO experience or equivalent digital marketing channel or e-commerce management with SEO as a recent focus, with a proven track record of improving business results
- Experience with data analysis, strategy development and operational program development
- Working knowledge of SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Adwords, Google Trends, Moz, Majestic, Similar Web and BrightEdge
- Understanding of basic corporate financial practices

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of the Earned Media landscape for maximizing the organic discoverability within search engines such as Google, YouTube, Pinterest and Bing
- Well-developed presentation skills (oral and written) computer skills required, specifically PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Ability to approach problems systematically, researching all alternatives and making appropriate recommendations
- Ability to be deadline oriented with long and short-term projects
- Proven data driven approach to solving complex problems and developing strategies
- Strong, collaborative team player with interest and ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence and educate stakeholders
