The Service Assurance Operations and Support Specialist is responsible for anticipating and determining recommendations to support and service key customers (i.e. other Technology groups including Product, Cox Business/Hospitality Network, Operations) as it pertains to Service Assurance/Tier 2 (SA/T2). Partnering with various department stakeholders to understand their goals, vision and roadmap while using sound methodology to develop a roadmap for SA/T2 to effectively stay in front of these from a personnel, process, tooling and training perspective. Making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and having an important impact on extensive technology related activities.  Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key technologists of other organizations and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiations of critical issues.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Partnering with key departments (i.e. other Technology groups including Product, Cox Business/Hospitality Network, Operations) to maintain awareness of the status of key initiatives; communicates status, and participates in major issue resolution activities ensuring T2 is capable of meeting workload demands of these client groups with the proper workforce management tactics in place, specifically best practices, workflow, tool needs, standards, guides
  • Provides recommendations to management regarding operations, personnel, and funds required to carry out programs that are directly related with and directed towards fulfillment of overall organizational objectives (i.e. training, resource management)
  • Exercises technical expertise in directing major projects or programs with full competency resulting in significant business impact on the company i.e. monitoring, communications, restoration tactics, problem management
  • Align with departmental roadmaps and ensuring SA/T2 are enabled for success and meeting expectations of team objectives (tools, process, automation); develop and drive mitigation factors
  • Works collaboratively with key business partners to develop and ensure performance metrics are in place and achieved for both business segments
  • Oversees ongoing scope change management activities for key initiatives; manages client communications on potential impact to cost or schedule
  • Maintains awareness of the operational performance of critical business systems and key changes that are implemented
  • Communicates to clients as appropriate on the business impact of operational performance results
  • Participates in operational activities as appropriate to represent the voice of the client and to advocate for needed improvements
  • Negotiates technical issues with top level technical staff and senior leadership
  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems
  • Champions innovative approaches and challenges existing approaches
  • Provides strategic oversight across multiple technical domains.
  • Regularly contributes to the development of long-term strategy crossing multiple functional areas.


  • 8 or more years of experience required in related field (i.e. Information Technology, Engineering, Product Development, etc.)
  • 5 or more years of experience required, if candidate possesses a related advanced degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers and quickly adapt to changes in process, requirements, goals and organizational change
  • Proven record achieving planned results by making decisions and taking action based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience
  • Proven ability to translate national strategy and vision into tactical initiatives
  • Ability to travel as required
  • BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
  • Experience in telecommunications industry desired
  • 3 or more years of experience in a management role or leading cross functional projects preferred
  • Prefer certification in Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications, in addition to Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA)
