Description ROLE SUMMARY

Groton Labs is Pfizer's largest R&D facility and a center of excellence for drug discovery and development. The Groton site has a Site Affairs Team who is ultimately responsible for fostering an environment in which colleagues are supported, informed, engaged, and proud, making Groton Labs and the Pfizer Clinical Research Unit great places to work and a valued community partner. Moreover, achievement of these goals will ultimately be a productivity driver as an enabler, for the 3,000+ colleagues and approximate $1B in R&D spend that occurs annually at the CT sites.

Reporting to the Groton Site Affairs Lead, the Groton Site Communications Manager is responsible for partnering with Site Affairs Lead and Site Affairs Manager to execute the Groton Labs Site Affairs annual plan, specifically focusing on the internal and external written communications included in plan. The communications plan, which focuses on our colleagues, culture, and reputation both internally and in our local community, will ensure that colleagues and our external constituents have the information necessary to be informed about the Groton site happenings, important facility updates, and community engagement opportunities.


+ Develop and deliver internal site content aimed at ensuring colleagues at the Groton and New Haven sites are informed and enhancing Pfizer's profile internally; contribute to building Pfizer identity, reputation and profile as a leader in R&D among internal audiences through weekly electronic news, web, comms from Site Head, and internal news flow.

+ Under the direction of the Site Affairs Manager develop and maintain high quality print and presentation materials for internal and external communication needs.

+ Under the direction of the Site Affairs Lead and Site Affairs Manager develop and deliver the communications related to site events and activities aimed at promoting the Pfizer, CT and Groton Labs culture.

+ Contribute to and support other critical communications needs for Pfizer, WRD at the site level and globally (i.e. filming requests, Get Science, and Pfizer World content).

+ Under direction of the Site Affairs Lead develop and deliver core written elements of the site strategy for external stakeholder engagement that builds Pfizer's identity, reputation and profile as a leader in R&D among external audiences; the strategy ensures positive interactions with local media, regional, state and local government officials, and other key influencers in the local area.

+ Responsible for developing the content for the written communications of our external community support strategy which includes programs such as our community grants and scholarship programs, managing charitable requests, donation drives, United Way program participation, volunteer program coordination.


+ Bachelor's degree is required.

+ Four plus years of relevant communications experience with specific experience focusing on both internal as well as external communication flow.

+ Working knowledge of software systems used for publishing electronic newsletters or online content.

+ Working knowledge of social media platforms.

+ Knowledge of healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.

This position requires a motivated, change agile self-starter with an innate ability to manage multiple priorities, pay strong attention to detail, collaborate across the enterprise, enhance existing processes and/or implement new ones, where appropriate. Someone who demonstrates integrity and gains trust quickly, and who has a passion for the Groton site and local community.
