Primary Responsibilities:

  • Position requires a heavy concentration of external meetings with Brokers and Customers with focus on presentations and renewal negotiation
  • Responsible for management and oversight of customer relationships (existing customers and brokers)
  • Develops retention and growth strategy for existing business; considered retention expert for Small Business
  • Provides renewal sales expertise and gives direction to Inside Sales, Renewal Account Executives (RAE) on the 2-50 block of renewal business.  RAEs have a dotted line to the Director of Account Management
  • Provides renewal sales expertise and advice to Small Business Account Executives and Broker Account Executives on the 51-99 block of renewal business
  • Maintains a positive work environment that supports a quality driven team and identify any issues that may inhibit an individual's or the team's performance
  • Manages a 2-50 and 51-99 in force BOB from a financial standpoint - performs block reviews with Underwriting , negotiates rate relief requests with Underwriting , and justifies rate decisions to broker / client
  • Maintains  detailed understanding of UHC and ancillary products, services and solutions
  • Identifies NBEA opportunities along with developing specific sales plans to meet ancillary goals
  • Demonstrates and can articulate knowledge of competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategies and can utilize this information in developing a persistency strategy
  • Participates in the business planning process both internally and externally with broker partners
  • Has oversight of customer service at all levels for both sales operations and account management (i.e. enrollment, billing, claims, renewal support, case installation, etc.)
  • Develops cross functional relationship that supports account management and sales operations to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Maintains complete accountability for account management and operations.  Including meeting retention targets, while contributing to new business goals
  • Responsible for overall management of sales operations (quoting, handling submissions, sales desktop expertise, etc.) as well as implementation of strategic platform initiatives
  • Anticipates problems / issues and develops contingency plans for both account management and sales operations
  • Participates in creating standardized performance measures and assists in institutionalizing account management and sales operations best practices
  • Recruits,  trains, coaches and performance manages local and remote AM team along with the local Sales Operations unit
  • Builds, trains and provides management oversight for external account management support specific to enrollment meetings - training and education of brokers/clients along with customer/broker service needs
  • Responsible for e / services adoption goals - engaging staff, implementing activities,  monitoring staff along with training and education of brokers / clients
  • Responsible for the rollout and implementation of SB initiatives
  • Partners with other leaders (within and across sites) to develop improvements (e.g., process, quality, lead special projects, etc.)
  • Demonstrates team effort and participation to achieve goals – willing to seek out or take on additional projects if needed
