Job Description

::Therapists are responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients, interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives, and treatment plan updates for patients. Therapists conduct family sessions prior to discharge.    Therapists act as the patients’ and families’ primary contact during the patient’s stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team.  Therapists are also liaisons with outside agencies and individuals for the purpose of developing and coordinating discharge planning with the treatment team and family.

Established in 1986, the Anchor Hospital campus of Southern Crescent Behavioral Health System is a 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission that specializes in the treatment of behavioral health and addictive disease disorders for Adolescents, Adults and Senior Adults.  Located in College Park, GA, Anchor Hospital serves Mental Health and Substance Abuse patients from all over the Southeast. We are committed to excellence in diagnosis, treatment and education. Patients who come to Anchor Hospital are in crisis, and the road to recovery for behavioral, mental health, and substance abuse patients is a difficult one. The staff at Anchor Hospital serves as compassionate guides who provide for our patients’ clinical needs.

Southern Crescent Behavioral Health System is comprised of three (3) facilities: Anchor Hospital, Crescent Pines Hospital Campus, and the Riverdale Outpatient Campus. Providing a myriad of behavioral health services across the continuum from inpatient through outpatient treatment, we treat children from age 4 through geriatric patients. We are currently seeking energetic and dynamic applicants for the position of Social Worker for Anchor Hospital.

Job Requirements

::

1. Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related fields.

2. Experience: One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with adults, children and/or adolescents. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to include but not be limited to: sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, and relaxation therapy.  Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.

3. License/Certification: Prefer license from the State of Georgia, such as LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LAPC, LPC

4. Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills in order to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document.  Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and patient families in a clear and concise manner.
Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems.
Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan.
Employees assigned to children and adolescents must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and developmental stages and must possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.

5. Physical Requirements: Extensive sitting, standing, writing, telephone calls.  May require response to crisis intervention.
