Can you demonstrate a real interest in technology/IT/Telecommunications, either through work experience or perhaps a hobby? If so we are actively seeking candidates to join our development teams in Feltham as Graduate Software Engineer in Test.

What You'll Do

As a member of this dynamic and international team, you will play an integral part in the DevOps software engineering process, working collaboratively on industry leading products throughout the full product-development lifecycle.

The successful candidate for this role will be a flexible individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced team, working on ensuring the quality and reliability of the delivered service. You would be working on a complex next-generation media service as well as developing tools and microservices for the Cisco Spark infrastructure.

You will be following an Agile Scrum-like process in managing workload, prioritising work, communicating progress and Sprint planning. You will be responsible for development, testing, delivery and monitoring for every work item you contribute to. You might also be required to interact with the Cisco Cloud and Spark teams based in Sillicon Valey via our advanced conferencing solutions and on occasion through fully-funded business travel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining automated tests, and contributing to our test infrastructure (Python)
  • Developing monitoring systems
  • Working on new tools and frameworks to increase efficiency
  • Maintenance and monitoring of our Continous Integration and Continuos Delivery pipeline (Jenkins)

Cloud Collaboration Technology Group (CCTG) is part of a specialist centre for Cisco Collaboration Engineering located at Cisco EMEAR headquarters in Feltham and Uxbridge. Our group builds cutting-edge media technologies, deployed daily to numerous datacentres around the world.

As a modern, quality focused group, we are responsible for designing, building and running scalable and reliable services. We provide the best-in-class audio and video experience that Cisco customers of products like WebEx and Spark enjoy and expect. We combine a deep well of experience with leading edge technologies for developing and deploying code quickly and reliably, following a 24 hour automated production deployment process.

Required Skills

  • Ability to multi-task and solve complex problems

  • Proven track record of learning new technologies and features on own initiative
  • A demonstrable passion for technology
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills, able to parse the symptom into possible causes and methodically isolate variables to determine the root cause
  • Creative, imaginative, enjoys taking things apart to understand how they work, breaking things and figuring out how to fix them
  • Be able to write maintainable, well-structured code and have a solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of Python

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of TCP/IP networking, VoIP and Video applications
  • Exposure to video and audio encoding, and processing techniques and technologies
  • Familiarity with multithreaded/event driven/asynchronous software.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation software and containers (Docker).
  • Familiarity with open source tools like  GStreamer  and OpenCV
  • Exposure to cryptography

Education Background:

  • Recently graduated or in your final year of studies towards a Bachelor, Master or PhD degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
  • Due to receive a minimum of 2.1
  • A minimum of AAB at ‘A’ level or equivalent 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Due to graduate or recently graduated with undergraduate or graduate level degree
  • Ability to live and work in the UK with no additional sponsorship from Cisco
  • Must be fluent in English
