Sky Engineering is an Engineering organization within Cisco dedicated to, and responsible for, the development, integration and deployment of complex, cutting-edge end-to-end solutions to Sky Europe (Sky UK, Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland).

The On-Site Software Integration Engineer role will involve working within a highly motivated team, integrating software components and solutions such as Set Top Box (STB) and client device software for satellite, cable and IP platforms.

This process will include working closely with both internal and external development teams to ensure that the full end to end solution operates correctly with both broadcast and other non-linear IP services such as ABR video streaming, PDL and hybrid OTT mixed IP/Satellite and cable delivery environments.

Often proving new end-to-end functionality for the first time, the role will typically involve locating and debugging issues across the full workflow as well as proving other critical areas such as performance and stability.

We are looking for software engineers with significant embedded development or integration experience who are capable of performing very well within a customer project driven environment to join our team.

You are capable of understanding and resolving problems in complex, multi-process, real-time systems and you will ideally have experience of working in multinational teams to demanding timescales. The role will also require confident interaction with the version control system to create builds with a specific correct configuration.

You will assume responsibility for your own work and resolve complex technical issues under pressure, drawing on support from domain experts as appropriate. You will analyse the impact of and plan integration for new packages of work, accounting for the development schedules, technical risks and dependant tasks. You will be responsible for at least one functional area of the system, leading investigation strategy and reporting summary status to the project management team.

The role involves close cooperation with the customer as well as with many Cisco entities. As such, you will be required to be an experienced, confident communicator, capable of succinctly describing issues to key parties.
