Sodexo Schools Food Service is seeking a Hourly - Sous Chef to work in large school district located in Springfield, MA.  Springfield Public Schools operates a lunch program in 32 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 4 high schools within the Springfield Public Schools district. In addition, Sodexo operates the school meals programs for three parochial schools, three charter schools, eight alternative schools, and five local independent child nutrition programs.


Ideal candidate has a Culinary Degree/Trade School Certificate and is ServSafe Certified.


Position develops food production employees, maintains culinary standards, and monitors food safety and sanitation.


Duties will also include:

Working under the direction of the Catering Manager for catered events.  Responsible for ordering supplies, tracking meals, planning and executing catered events, and maintaining regulatory readiness. Ideal candidate has supervisory experience, working knowledge of food preparation and service, up to date on HACCP standards, proven success regarding kitchen safety standards and sanitation.  Best qualified candidate has computer skills to work in food and labor management systems, and the ability to adapt and adjust to challenging situations as a manager.  Position assists with food and labor cost controls, training of staff, and monitors daily work flow of employees.  Schedule varies and will include some weekend and holiday management coverage.
